I finally stepped the Savage 110 FCP .300 Winmag out to 500yds Wednesday. It went a little better than expected. I currently have a Konus M30 8.5-32x52 scope on it, hope to upgrade glass after getting a few projects done. I was shooting Hornady and GA Arms 180gr ballistic tip. After checking zero at 100yd, then 3 rds at 200 to see if my calculations were close, I headed on out to 500.
There was a bit of wind, but all in all I'm pretty happy with the results of the first six rounds.
I then fired the remaining 14 rounds I had, the entire group stayed about the same. Honestly, the rifle still shoots much better than me. I plan on getting much more long range practice.

did you have a cross wind? the horizontal stringing suggests that other wise it would be about MOA group not bad though

Thanks. There was a bit of a crosswind, it was blowing left to right with some variation in speed.

at 500 yds wind drift can be significant easily add 6" to a group I shoot 162gr Hornady in my 308, at 500yds I get around 6-8" groups our range is oriented almost due north so we rarely get much cross wind of any consequence. we have little windsocks starting at 400 to dope the wind no anemometer though so its guess work our big issue in warm months is mirage, we have desert like terrain and when its hot the 400 and 500yd targets are hard to see with my 24x Leupold
