So a few months back, my trusty 1994 Suburban with the 350 had the ignition control module under the distributor fail. At the time, I removed the distributor, dissassmbled it, installed the new one, put the distributor back together and re-installed it back into the block. Had a friend come over to help me re-time it. It was running very rough, even with the ESC wire disconected. We tried to adjust to to see if would smoothen out and no luck. My friend pulled the distributor again and the problem there was that the shaft was not spinning smooth, it was blocky; he advised it should just be replaced complety. Well, I had other things going in life (baby) and I had time to actually get the Suburban running again for the winter. Went to NAPA and got myself a brand new distributor with cap and rotor using my work discount. I was on my own this time, so before I installed the new one, I set the engine to TDC dead on, put the new distributor in (oiled of course), and then put the plug wires back on. Went to fire up and its not catching at all; sometimes I hear a small backfire but thats it. I have doubled check I have spark with both a plug to the block and using a timing gun and looks OK. I got fuel coming from thru the injectors at the throttle body. I have checked the firing order and still nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

Have you pulled the cap to make sure the distributor is spinning?

Hmm, you are positive TDC on number one and it went in with rotor pointing at number one on cap too right?

I’m pretty sure, but I will double check it.
