Did you get in all 6 of them?
The water is pretty high now compared to three weeks ago.

The Chipmunk Caves are a great time, there is much more there than what's immediately visible from the trail, worth a few trips to see more of it. One of my dirt riding buddies gave me a tip on another cave across the river along Bench FSR, been meaning to go check it out.

I never get sick of exploring Chilliwack River Valley, so many beautiful unmarked waterfall/cave trails.

I have located this cave today.... There a lot of water in it. Did not ventured inside yet. So I have no idea on how far it goes. After several hrs at the chipmunk caves, and a few more hrs bush wacking in search of more caves. We were soaked, muddy and cold. Definitively will wait for several days without rain for this one.

Some photos from a few weeks ago and some from yesterday. all taken with a cell phone.

The chipmunk caves consist of 6 caves (that I have so far located... maybe there is a few more?)

As of yesterday even with high water level, they were all accessible. With one of them only accessible via the top entrance as the lower entrance / exit is currently in the river. but you can still go through that whole cave go down the rope and dip a toe in the water if you so wish.

As EPOCH6 mentioned and I confirmed on my last post. There is one more cave on the other side of the river.

You’ll know for sure if your claustrophobic well before you get in a spot that thight. I’ve seen people starting to get anxiety in mine tunnels where you could walk two wide. Try to find out what you can handle, you never know.

How the hell does your cell phone take better pictures than my DSLR?

Its not what your using, it is how your using it. You can have the best gear in the world and still get lousy photos. Kai, the former host digital rev tv on Youtube demonstrated this. He Had a feature where he was challenging professionals photographers to using cheap cameras.
https://www.youtub...PL7ECB90D96DF59DE5

I have become very good a low light photography. It pretty much is my speciality. Alternatively... I cant do portrait photography to save my life. I nearly never use a flash, only long exposures at lowest ISO setting. Then I use flashlight / headlights to light paint. Sometime I luck out and get the shot on the first try. Usually takes me a few photos to dial in exposure time \ where & for how long to expose the light. Most of the shots were taken between 6 and 10 seconds. Sometime I hide lights in the background too.

As for the cell phone photos in the caves. I did this as an experiment... I thought that by using the manual features on the cell phone camera and a tripod. One should be able to get decent shots in low light. To be honest I am blown away with the quality. Much, much better then expected. I know I could still do better with my DSLR. But honestly carrying a cell phone in a cave is much easier then lugging a DSLR.

I will return with my dslr in the summer. It will purely be a photography trip as it will be time consuming and a two man job to get my backpack through all the caves. It really takes the fun out of caving.

For the ones wondering what my cellphone is: LG G6

It has dual camera setup with two 1/3" 13MP sensors
First lens has a 71 degree angle of view and F1.8
The second lens is wide-angle, 125 degree angle of view and F2.4

The manual features are great. Exposure times up to 30 seconds. When in manual mode, you can save files in RAW. My biggest complaint. Is the image processing, which applies very strong sharpening and produces a lot of noise. If you zoom into the photos, even slightly. The image gets very pixelated. So dont plan on getting large prints out of your photos. Hence I still keep my pentax K30 as my main camera. That said... as you can see with my photos, still a pretty darn good camera.
