Being 100% honest with you - You are thinking about this way too much. Put some gloves on and get out there and you'll quickly realize that it's not near as bad as you are making it out to be in your head.

I know I'm overthinking it, but that's the nature of this shitbox phobia.
I agree though, I'm sure it's not as bad as I'm thinking it would be in my head once I actually get out there. Or worse, over react because I'm on edge and put myself into an actual dangerous situation. Mental preparation and all.

I have had problems with ticks before. Ticks are nothing to mess with, either is Lyme disease.

I know that's nothing to mess with but even the people around here I know who actually go camping and such never seem to have problems with them. I'll definitely keep my eyes open though and do thorough checks after every outing.

They do make repellents that you can buy and spray yourself with before going and I've heard good things from people who use them.

I will definitely invest/look into that.

The small ones are hard to spot, many times you feel them before you see them.

That sent a shiver up my spine.

It should. I've had Lyme.
Known when you're in areas where it's present and always do a strip and search at the end of the day. Lyme isn't the worst they carry, RMSF is a true medical emergency; without antibiotics you will die.

Bring one bedbug home and you are so fucked...

Check your fear level in proportion to the real threat level.
There are enough real threats; no time for useless add-ons that distract you from your primary mission, survival.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

Definitely something to think about. I'd hate to hear how a reaction to a spider made you fall into a hellhole or knock yourself out or something.

we were out exploring around Port Dover on lake Erie. It was fall. and something insane was going on. Spiders were everywhere, like crawling on things, making webs on anything they good get to. The large abandonment we went to was full of webs that needed to be broken to go through. On the way back all the destroyed webs were rebuilt like we weren't even there just several hours before.
