The Bed and Breakfast - My Weekend on the West Coast

Thank you to those who provided me with tips on places to go. Should I have access to a car and more time on my hands, I will head out to some of those places for sure.

I have started going with my father out west to Vancouver Island. He prefers this time of year because the fares are cheapest, and it's the easiest time for him to get off work, but that is why we don't stay very long. Anyway...

I mostly took pictures in places I am supposed to go, so I didn't do much in the way of true urban exploration, however my cousin happens to give me a tip on a place near her house.

The Bed and Breakfast is undergoing redevelopment after multiple ownership changed and overall failure to succeed as a business. The property is being divided, and the undeveloped half will have townhouse units built while the B&B will attempt to continue being a B&B. My trip was cut extremely short by the presence of someone there. While I was in the kitchen, a man stuck his head into the doorway, but somehow did not see me. Given both the presence of someone there, and the condition of the first floor, I began to wonder how much activity is really going on here, and if this was a place I should be. If I lived out there, I would definitely monitor the activity at that location and revisit when nobody is around. Probably a pre-dawn visit would be ideal. If anyone is interested, let me know. I'll give you the info.

After visiting this house, we went out to Pender Island where some cabins from the Roeslands still remain, crumbling. Unfortunately, Parks Canada has locked all of them, not that there's much left in any that still stand.

Cool pics! I love the fall colours too, especially since we are under snow here in Alberta!

Beautiful. I also really like the details in the stone from the outside light in "To Oblivion".

Haha, we checked the weather every day while we were there. It hovered between 6-10 the whole time and only rained on Sunday, while in Toronto, it was -7 with freezing rain.

I appreciate the compliment! I did not realise how well I captured the stone walls. My aim was to capture the contrast in light between the doorway and the basement, and the detail of vines starting to take over the slab of wood. But the stones work just as well!

Beautiful set, there's always way too much to explore on the Island in one trip and plenty to look forward to next time.
