I have a few pics of an abandoned trailer that i want to upload, they're off an iPhone and they're over 100KB. is there a way to shrink them?

You need a photo down sizer app.
I'm Android, but I'm sure Apple has them... google.

Your best bet is on a computer. If you're on a computer you can just use the Quick Gallery Creator that's built into the forum and it will automatically resize your images. Google photos and Apple photos make it super easy to transfer from your phone to your computer.

If you don't want to do it that way you can also download an app to reduce file size. I checked, they do exist.

Like Android, Apple iPhone has many free resizing apps. You need to play with them to see which work best for you.
Here's one:

this comes up a lot and not just on UER other bulletin boards I belong to suffer the same issues

1. learn the difference in file size and image size, the Gallery Creator tool on UER is easy and one of the best posting tools Ive ever used, it may bog down if your image size is like 6000x4000 pixels or something but Im gonna leave the mobile technology issues to somebody smarter than me I just use a cell phone to talk on, a camera to shoot photos and a PC to browse the Internet.

A program for PCs called irfanview is free and works with no glitches, Im sure some Picasso/pro photogs will disagree but I see little to no image degradation even at 75% file re-size.

Good enough for The Web.

learn the difference in file size and image size

Image size is just the number of pixels in it. File size depends on the number of pixels. Image sizes aren't really measured in inches or centimeters, they are measured in pixels, and the size of a pixel varies by device. To reduce file size, you must reduce the number of pixels, therefore reduce the image size (in pixels).

If you have a 1000x500 image and you reduce it to 800x600 (or something of the same aspect ratio) all you lose is the ability to zoom in as far and still have clarity. This is why reducing size seems like it doesn't hurt the quality.

Here is an example:

This is the original image, set at 300px/in

After resizing the second image to 200px/in they looked identical until I zoomed way in (to the point that you'd never zoom in this far). As you can see, it is more pixelated than the original at more or less the same zoom level.

2.

Hope this helps!

nope, you must have some limitation with your software or something but I can reduce the file size and leave the image size the same height and width (pixels x pixels as a measurement of distance not quality)

You'll find after going through the pain of resizing things that, for the purpose of uploading to UER at least, it is much easier to simply dump your photos onto flickr and just share them that way. When I first went to share some photos on here I spent far too much time resizing when I could have simply uploaded them to flickr, then used that link to post them here (while also reducing the size of the image a bit so it isn't stupidly huge). If you haven't read through this yet, you probably should just so you're aware of your options: http://www.uer.ca/...d=1&threadid=60002

Wow, thank you for saving me dozens of hours of going through my massive self-brewed method of downsizing via email.
