MSP, it's like another dimension were the normal forum rules are skewed. It's rumored there's a black hole there somewhere deep in the sewers of MSP. If you piss them off bad enough they'll make you disappear forever...

Can I get you to show up and piss them off?
You know...for science...

Are we living a life that is safe from harm? Of course not, we never are. But that's not the right question. The question is, are we living a life that is worth the harm? | |
Oh yes, there's a lot of hazing when you start. It's not fun, there's paint and alligator clips involved. Just kidding, everyone here is pretty damn nice, but I do recommend reading all the forum and global rules if you haven't already. Also not posting things about B&E, theft, scrapping, any other frowned upon activity, etc, if you don't want to be torn to shreds. Basically, if you read the rules and have a decent or semi-decent moral compass, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Posting good photos is a bonus.

+1 this
I cant believe the increasing numbers of new members that don't even read the basic FAQ or Rules, then post something that causes them to get "hazed" which is complete b.s. There is no hazing on UER if you have a question youre afraid or embarrassed to post just send a message to a moderator theres a bunch of them with a green star by their user ID. Post rookie type questions in the Rookie Forum. No bullies allowed. Read the Rules and FAQ.

Those are the rules but it doesn't exempt someone from posting something truly dumb in there. Like if a new member joined the site and posted in Rookie, "Who else likes burning down abandoned buildings?" they won't last long.

point well taken Rule # 13 Don't post anything truly dumb in any forum ha!
I guess my bone to pick with the original premise is whats hazing? Hazing to me is something your fellow platoon members, fellow football team or fraternity members do because they like you and want to see what your made of, i.e. can you take it. I realize that's an unpopular thing nowadays, but I have survived multiple hazings over 50 years some of which were pretty damn brutal, and not just somebody using a harsh or hurtful comment on the Internet. Get real people. I have yet to see any hazing on UER. Ridicule maybe but hazing no.

Easily the most welcoming and inviting forum I've ever joined. It just starts with not being an idiot or jerk. I've not had a bad interaction with UER period. Even when I dropped random questions into your inbox ;P Join UER. Check the FAQ. Contribute when you can. Crack a joke when it's inappropriate. You should be just fine.

No hazing for sure. Usually how it goes is someone says or does something dumb or naive and then some people will say " hey dummy, don't do that." Its not hazing, its not bullying, just a fair warning for those who don't know or understand the rules.
