I am sure this place is under heavy lock and guard but wondering if any one has ever been to check this out. http://www.cbc.ca/...elopment-1.4318369 If you want to get out there, might want to do it soon!

Never heard about, definitely worth checking out. I'll go see one day, and I'll report back here what I found.

Would love to see photos from such an adventure if you do! I'd love to go but would prefer maybe a group meetup on this one with some more experienced Urbex members. I suspect that this place is under heavy surveillance. I will try and do some visual research and drive bys since I live in town.

It's got active security, motion sensor cameras and is in an area with high police activity. Now during the transition we will see if it ever opens up, even if temporarily. I haven't read great things about the development company so we will see...

I saw that, and I meant to do some more research on the place. I imagined it would be something like the situation with Mr. Christie's in Etobicoke, but it seems that is not the case.

Sounds like a mission worth doing

I'd really like to see it before it gets torn down. I really wonder whether there is any surveillance or security on duty with the new owners. While few details have been given it is my understanding the plant is to be torn down and turned into a housing community. I wonder if they would really hire security to watch the place when it is likely to be torn down soon. I've driven by a few times recently, parked nearby and walked around. I didn't see anything too concerning but I didn't investigate too far. I had my dog with me, I usually find I look less suspicious lol, I could be wrong.

Security depends on the site. For example, there's a place in Toronto that's getting totally leveled, but due to community complaints, the developers have had to increase security rather than decrease it. Typically though, the trend is if a building is getting demolished, security is pretty lax.

The new development company that purchased it has a track record of buying derelict buildings in the city and letting them sit for a long time... They owned Arrow Clothing which sat empty for more than a decade. Chances are with all the chemicals in the ground from this place it's going to be a while before anything is done with it. The doors have chains wrapped around em and the fence is chained up too with huge padlocks. So it's... Gonna be interesting. It's in my city though so if you're planning on hitting it up let me know and we can grab a drink or something! <3

Based on what I'm hearing about security, seems iffy, but looks super dope though.

Looks like a fun challenge! I'm not far and would love to tag along, let me know if you plan on going out!

We'll see... Other places have had demolition notices posted for a while and nothing ever came of it for a while. They still have to wait for permits to be processed and companies to bid.

Just read in that second article, "been sitting vacant for 2 and a half years..." She's lonely - something must be done. Also, yes it may take awhile to get 'er demolished, but before they tear down they usually clean the place out. I had the same issue with Honest Eds, I thought it would be awhile until they knocked it over - but in the meantime all the cool stuff got cleaned out, hence my disappointment when I got inside So, road trip out to Kitchener before the end of April, who's in?

You'd be the one to get in, if a way in was needed lol. I'm local, maybe a group meet-up here would be fun.
