Superman Building

For those of you in (or around) RI, has anyone scoped out this site to see what level of security is still maintained? I know it hasn't been officially occupied since 2013, but it is in a city after all

Based on Google Maps, it looks like there's a bank right next to it and the street looks pretty busy. I'm sure there are cameras everywhere, and I think they occasionally do tours of the building so the inside is probably maintained. They haven't given up with it yet and I doubt they will for a while since it's such a large and historic building in a busy and active area.

But if someone does get in, get photos!

It's a very inherently secure building, with heavy metal doors and strong metal windows. There's nothing to try to bend or coax. There are no windows at street level, and the ones that scaffolding provides access to are stout metal, not rotten wooden double hung. Something would have to be unlocked from inside. I'd be very surprised if it's not alarmed.

I climbed the superman building a couple years ago. The top has a massive falcon nest and birds are flying everywhere. Very interesting building inside and out. The lobby was a sight to see.

Tripping a silent alarm is always a surprise...

I can attest to this.

It was hilarious.

Those don't bother me as much as the insidious realization the building you have been in for 10 minutes has an active, functional and tripped silent alarm system.
One of those priceless oh shit moments... as you hope it's a low priority and a busy day.

I think the surprise they meant is the sudden loud noise that scares the shit out of you. But yeah, I'll take that over a silent alarm any day.

I live in Providence, and I can tell you that the only way in is by tour. The tours are announced randomly and if you don't know when to go online for a ticket at just the precise moment, you'll miss out.

I am not so interested, because the 1st floor (which is the best part of the building) used to be my bank!

The whole building needs renovations, including the exterior, which is chipping away and landing on the busy sidewalks below (known as "spalling")
