I came across this article today. Looks like they've been trying to do something to redevelop this area for a while. It seems like these plans are pretty solid and they're going to be turning it into a mixed-use development. No word on when demolition is going to start though. http://www.mysanan...ewery-11818641.php I've walked by this place a few times, looks very cool. I'm new to town. I've checked the database on this, but if someone has more info or wants to meet up send me a PM.

http://www.uer.ca/...ow.asp?locid=23869 This may seem sacrilegious coming from a native Texan but Lone Star beer is pretty damn awful at any level. I tried drinking it when it was all the rage and trendy but Jesus Christ on a crutch, nasty beer.. ever smell that swill? Pop a top then take a whiff before you take a drink, it smells like San Antonio River water. The hipsters can have it, all they want. If its still available anywhere I never see it at the beer stores anymore.

Scoped it out, pick the best day for the least security, predawn it, wait for daylight. Bring at least 2 good flashlights and water. Do it... and don't fall or get busted.
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |

This is one I regret not checking out despite visiting SA twice in the last year. I saw some beautiful places, but not very many of them were as pressing as this one as far as time remaining...

I've been meaning to explore it for quite some time but never got around to it. Should I try to make it over there before any of this happens or am I plum out of luck?

gets a like for saying Jesus Christ on a crutch!!!
Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time. Z.B.S. Halevi -- Kabbalah |

Keep us posted if you do check it out. I’d even be willing to make a trip of it if it was worth the effort...

I have finally found time to go explore the brewery. I scouted it out yesterday and I'm headed there later today. It still looks extremely abandoned.

Explored it a few weeks ago, the place was mainly riddled with scrappers and teenagers but it was an experience!

Hmm. A friend of mine recently told me that the renovation efforts have pretty much come to a halt. Lone Star, and one other one I’d like to revisit, are two good reasons to head down there sooner rather than later (it’s only going to get hotter, after all!).

It looks like they never even started. The only signs of any thing new is a few signs tucked away in a building near the edge. But those already have graffiti on them so I'm guessing they've been there a while as well.

Thought I'd revive this, the place is still up and kicking. It was partially demolished sometime in 2020, sadly before my time in Urbex. Been a few times in the last year and things seem to be slowing down as far as traffic goes. For some time access to the top area had been blocked off as a homeless person's kingdom but during my last trip, I was able to make it up. Some hate it but I still think it is worth exploring, especially for climbers.
