I don't get it. But then again with the harsher winters you get maybe that's the life span of a. Parking cable there lol

when we got them off the car, you could see where the outer sheathing had cracked and let all the salt, water, sand and tailings into the cable. Honestly, they were supremely easy to change. You had to pull the backseat up to get the carpet to roll forward a little, remove the console (which was easy), detach the cables from the handle, remove two bolts from the grommets that hold the cables to the body, undo the cables from the drums, remove the dustplugs from the body... reverse to install... less than 40 minutes. hardest part was getting the console out of the car.
$49 for the two cables
$63 to change the two cables.

not too bad at all.
so, let's see what breaks next.

Not as bad as I expected. GM is often.....creative....when it comes to parking brakes. Glad that one is simpler.

what do you mean?
two separate cables leading from the parking brake handle to each drum. elegant and simple solution.

Ive ran into a single cable that goes to a bracket with a set of cables coming off to each drum. Three separate ones but you can adjust virtually everything so it kinda worked out. Thought they may do that instead of 2 dedicated.

nope, this was one handle with an adjuster on the backside of it, two cables leading down to the drums. It really was a pretty simple arrangement.

Nice. It makes my day when I dig into the repair and see that the engineer wasn't completely sadistic.
