I've already put one turbo in the car at 92k.
Reason I ask is that I live on a hill. Once I leave the village, it's all boost (4 or so miles) uphill. That's kind of what I was getting at.

You should start a tofu delivery service.

Just make sure you do your regular services. I work at a garage, and I can't stress people enough on doing there oil changes, man... It's sooooo important to do them on time otherwise you burn enough oil to be dry and seize you engine, or the oil becomes too thick and starts increasing pressure --> valve train noise and other top level on engine issues, you can also get lost of viscosity --> premature bearing wear, and so much more things like that that can go wrong... Let's not forget other things like air filters, transmission fluid flushes, ect... The reason why people's car don't last of because of how they maintain them and how they drive them... Warm up you car before abusing it in the winter, little things like that that makes a huge difference on the long run...

I ALWAYS put synthetic oil in my car even if it's a 2001 Honda Civic, I always spend the extra bucks, you get what you pay for: more stable oil and it lasts for longer.

going in today to have the oil cooler seals repaired... they are leaking enough now where I am actually concerned about engine fires... when the cooler leaks, it dumps on the headpipe which, of course, is a wee hot.

so $80 in parts and 3hrs labor to the tune of $90 per hour... this was not really a repair I can afford, but it's either this, a blown engine, or an engine fire.
(facepalm)

follow up post... the job took four hours to do, $120 in parts.
Was $516 total... well, now the car doesn't smell like an oil fire.

yay.

On the high mileage note I daily drive a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country with, as of today, 249,897 miles on the original engine (3.3) and transmission. It has had neglectful maintenance and the radiator hasn't held water under pressure for 2 years. Only things I've done in the 60k miles I've owned it is a set of tires when I got it, wipers, radiator (which took some road debris the following year so fuck it), HVAC blower fan and resistor, water pump and belt, and that's pretty much it. Set of brakes on the front and let's see...... nothing. So I would say it depends as much on luck as it does on the type of vehicle and maintenance.

yay... the last set of tires I will ever buy (hopefully)
130,766 miles I bought a set of Hankook Optimo H724 tires... hopefully they are light years better than those shitty fucking Fuzions I bought. I have nothing to say nice about a Fuzion tire other than they are cheap.

Getting a brand new frame on my '09 Tacoma because it failed a recall rust inspection test... was hoping I'd break 300,000 miles (I'm at 224k right now), feeling pretty confident I will now ;)

Sweet. That recall had to hurt Toyota. I've even seen them doing replacements down here.

I looked at one a couple of years ago which had a gap in the frame it was so rotted out.

I want a Tacoma so effing badly. 4 door, 4x4 V6 manual would be perfect.
