Good thing 30 cops showed up for that one guy climbing a crane. I don't know how they could have done it without all that manpower.
| |
He started climbing at 7:30PM, still too light out and was arrested 2 hours later. Yeah cops were pissed.
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. | |

If you're going to climb in NYC at 7:30 p.m., you kind of deserve what you get at that point.

I've never climbed something like that until after midnight (but down before 4:00!). I don't think ever. Unlike NYC, I'm even in a city that sleeps. One lesson I'm glad I didn't have to learn the hard way.

It's interesting that he was charged with burglary, being as the article only mentions him having a camera, he was probably just going to take pictures. Burglary by definition requires an intent (before or after entry) to commit a crime of some sort, separately from the breaking & entering. On top of that, fenced off areas (eg construction sites) generally aren't considered facilities that house people, so they generally don't count as trespassing. Bad luck for him... well, bad judgement, 7:30 is way too early.
