NSH Campus

2017's been a slow year for exploring for me due to Real Life, but I finally got the time to go exploring and got into my first medical facility. I'm sure most of you have been here already. Got stuck using an antique of a tripod that takes forever to set up hence not many photos, but I fully intend to go back so that's OK!

01: First Hall
This is what greeted us upon entry - peeling paint and open doors. Couldn't ask for a better welcome.

02: Leaves

03: Leaves (2)
This is the same photo subject as "Leaves", except instead of pointing the flashlight at the ceiling for ambient light, I twirled the flashlight like a baton to get ambience from all sides and eliminate the shadows. Thought it was neat.

04: White Christmas

05: Hydrotherapy
This room might have been a hydrotherapy room that was converted into a restroom. Or it might just be a restroom equipped with a bathtub.

06: Women's Bathroom

07: Storm Simulator
Rather than board up these windows, or perhaps because the boards fell off, whomever is responsible for keeping the building secure elected to shove entire trees into the doors and windows to secure them. In the process, they opened up the building to nature's wrath. Unfortunately this one came out crooked because it was taking a long time to line it up perfectly and I wanted to get a move on.

08: Sledgehammer Circumvention
Many of the buildings here had connections to an underground tunnel network running between them. All the doors have either been welded shut or entombed behind steel plates, but some enterprising individual armed with homewrecking equipment found a way past. Climbing down from that hole got us into part of the tunnels.

09: Into Darkness

10: Dome Lights

11: Blast Shield
At the farthest end of the hallway stood two steel plates blocking the rest of the tunnel. My friend was able to peek around one side and said it looked like it just led to rubble.

12: Spear
When boarding up this window, the installer either forgot there was a window behind the wood or just didn't give a shit. The glass took it surprisingly well though.

Well, that's certainly the most unique way I've ever seen so far of 'securing' a location.

I love those dome lights, They are so... retro. I'm also pretty curious about whats behind the steel plates, I'd imagine it stretches on for a bit past there.

Turns out that the steel plates block a tunnel that used to go to two more buildings which were demolished a few years ago. The tunnel beyond the plates was collapsed and filled in at that time.

There were more tunnels that we couldn't get into as well - the tunnel network connected to at least ten different buildings, maybe more, but any buildings this building connected to are all gone. There are still about seven other buildings still standing though, and I aim to get into as many as I can.

And all but a precious few of the dome lights were smashed or gutted.

Some interesting "security measures" here. Some nice shots as well, I like your attention to detail in some of them.
