The Defense Complex

My second dump is going to be the the F. Edward Hebert Defense Complex. This place was kind of a big deal being our first World War Naval base built in 1919; 1.5 million square feet of what is now an dark slum of hidden homeless and scrappers.

This place houses offices of all different aesthetic, ranging from rooms filled with cubicles to large single-person offices furnished with lavish wood cabinets and furniture, a commissary, d-fac, kitchen, large freezer storage, recruiting offices, a millwright workshop, makeshift dwellings, decommissioned meth labs, and every other floor being a large parking garage with car lifts. This place has alot to see, including a great view of the east side of New Orleans, and a large part of Chalmette.

PERTINENT INFORMATION:
I've gathered information on a group of scrappers at this location, armed and protected by dogs. The words were, "about six or seven" of them are inside and live there full time, locking themselves into rooms they have secured while they rest with their loot.

I haven't seen them nor have I heard them per se, however we did find a locked that onced disturbed alarmed a large dog within. I've dodged many vagrants in my visits here, and can only vouch for what I seen of them. Which isn't much. Because fuck hanging around them.

STORY TIME!!

One weekend, our usual group brought a trio of newbs to break them in on their third location (inb4 lesson learned). Whilst upon the roof, enjoying the night time view and the aggressive river-driven wind and enjoying our spirits; the newbs wandered off. Not only back inside, but into a completely different building multiple stories down the six story tomb. They come back freaked out, talking about a dog they found. And comes in toe, a rather nice dog. He was a mid-sized black dog with large white spots like a cow. His fur was shiny, and he smelled like he had been washed that day. We decide to retrace the morons' steps back into a garage. We made our way into a garage when I, leading the pack, saw his light beam hug a wall to my left.

"Have any of you guys seen my dog?"

He was wearing khaki pants and a white muscle shirt, appropriate amount of grime. He was holding hid light in one hand and a Super Bar nailbar in the other. Regardless of our much greater numbers, we did the right thing and responded promptly and clearly. We assured him right away that his dog was with us, and that we had been meaning to return him. He scolded us for our light use and pointed us in a direction he continued to move opposite in, claiming he lived there.

I'm not confident this guy was a scrapper, as his dog was much smaller than what we later heard in the hallway mentioned above. I'm also not sure if this is the dope-slinging homeless that lives in the overgrown rec yard, as mentioned by the previously mentioned informant.

That's all I've got to say about this place. I hope you enjoy what I have, and I'll be making another dump very soon.

That place looks massive. Is that a ship I see in 21? Thanks for the story, sounds pretty interesting.

Always floors me when buildings built by tax payer dollars go abandoned. You'd think selling them for even pennies on the dollar would be a better option.

Yes, it is. There's actually two, parked side by side.
