Welcome, check out the rookie forum also search, several good/opinionated threads on cameras, too many choices and price ranges, I suggest Canon DSLR, I got over 25000 images on an antique Canon Rebel that was only rated for 6-8000 images at the time, still running good although the battery finally failed at around 10k. New after market batt was cheaper and better than the OEM batt.

Thank you 2Xplorations! I've been looking at the Canons, and I really like what I see. I found a Canon T6 EOS Rebel DSLR bundle with a tripod and different lenses for $449 which I didn't think was too bad!
