I'll be in the San Francisco Bay area all next week and wanted to know what's a good (great) all around explore in the area? I'll be in Vallejo mostly.

You definitely won't be having a hard time finding places to explore in Vallejo..you should be able to easily find some places on your own.

^^^ this. the Vallejo region houses some of the most infamous spots around. A simple google search could help you with these. Cities directly south of Vallejo are very abundant with opportunities as well.

Mare Island was pretty cool. Those buildings were pretty tore up. In serious "No Trespassing" places I prefer to be dropped off so as not to have the parked " Hey I'm definitely in here" car hanging out. That whole section of California is great for exploring.1.

Great pictures! But I have to say...

JUST WOW! At that old super market building being so torn up now. (The building in your images 15 - 19) I was in that very same building a few years ago and this is a picture I took almost in the same spot as you where:

Things sure do change once the general public find out about the spot, doesn't it?

I had no idea that was a supermarket, I went about two weeks ago and it was completely thrashed.

Was the BX. My g-ma bought me some outfit there's one time. I liked it best when all the creepy meth head messages where everywhere, "through the lock, then through the door" and I think my favorite was "through the panick hardware". Like they broke in and then left a record of how they did it.

**edit, I think I have some old pics of some of the things that were left behind like an old map and a pretty sweet lack of graffitti. Not positive on this as they might have been in the photos I accidently erased at one point

And even though I periodically drive through there still, I'm surprised the BEQ is still standing and so trashed. My first visit there were still rules posted in some of the rooms and memos around

Did they finally stop having the roaming security out on Mare? Last time I was there was like 2 years ago and security rolled up on us after about 3minutes of just walking towards a building and warned us if we're caught off the city sidewalk we'd be fined and possibly arrested instantly lol

I saw a female security guard sleeping in her car, no trouble at all from her.

Speaking 'supermarkets'... went by the other big former Navy place ... (were there used to be a hospital and warehouses...)

If you'd been inside you would have seen what looked like several apartments/houses totally cleaned out and everything dumped inside for storage.

Right now, all that stuff was moved outside in piles. Pretty weird. Wonder if they're going to try to do something with the building.

Also apparently gone...the guy living in the downstairs corner apt directly across from the "supermarket." ...that had at least 4 people drive up, go in for about a minute and come back out in the 10 mins I was scoping out the bldg.

And a few more after I came out. Not odd at all.

Although, that was about 6 years ago

No kidding about not much left here. I mean look at those "bros of decay" guys on youtube. Granted they are traveling...but they couldn't be doing THAT much traveling in the amount of time between videos, and they have found places that are just insanely full of things, as if the people who were living there just disappeared in an instant one day.

There's a (transplanted) local lady here, I wonder if she still does urbex...or if she is mad about how youtube totally blew up for some urbexers leaving her behind. She certainly wasn't shy about getting as much publicity for herself as possible. I'm sure people know who I'm talking about....or you might say Ah Ha once you heard the name....

Byron Hot Springs Hotel is pretty cool if you head out towards the Valley. It's a little bit of a walk down the road but definitely worth it all in all!

Yeah I can definitely see how it could be sketched there. The first time I went we met some uh crackheads(?) on the top floor. Although, I'm just assuming from their pupils. But during the same trip, we saw high school kids walking around, and a family walking with a baby carriage outside the building.

We were met by a landowner with a rifle when we went. That was years back though. Used to be a trailer with someone living in it on site as well. That is all gone from what I see on Google Earth. Still, can be sketchy at ANY SITE. Not recommended to go alone, ever.
