A few weeks back I was able to check out this gorgeous place! This was the first time that I ventured out of state to explore somewhere and I wasn't disappointed. 1. 2.
Upon arrival there were two larger buildings standing, but unfortunately they were fenced off, so we weren't able to get in everywhere. Below is a picture of the larger of the two buildings. 3.
We had decided to go a bit later in the day so these were all taken around 4 PM. Unfortunately there were several worker trucks around so they appear to be in the beginning stages of tearing this place down, but there were no workers on site that we saw when we got there. Due to the noise of running machinery in the larger building we decided against going inside as we didn't want to risk potentially running into a worker whom we may have missed. Overall it was a great trip though, and it had a nice view of the ocean!

How much of those buildings were you able to get into? Even if there wasn't much in those buildings, I'd love exploring a whole block of old buildings like that!

One of my favorite spots! It’s virtually deserted on weekend mornings, probably more so in the colder months.

I was only able to get into the building in picture one, but the doors were bolted shut so the picture of the inside of the building was all we were able to see. If we hadn't heard the machinery in the larger building we would've been able to go inside.

The state has been trying to clean up Seaside for years. It's been a long and slow process. You've also got all the local residents that want to preserve the building for historical purposes and re-purpose it, not destroy it. It's been many years since I've been there for a visit. People are allowed to walk around the property, so don't worry too much about getting caught outside. As long as you don't look suspicious you should be fine. I never had any luck getting past the 1st floor of the main building though. Always wanted to get to the second floor where all the patient records are strewn around everywhere.
