Although i haven't been a member of this site for an awful long time, i still do my best to post as much as possible in an attempt to keep this forum alive. so my question is, where the heck are the rest of my BC urban explorers?? i know you guys are out there, so why aren't you posting 
No post needs to be perfect, not every picture has to be DSLR quality. Heck, the photos could be years old for all that anyone cares. I (as well as others im sure) enjoy seeing any post in our forum because it sheds light on the rich history of our country.
Lets bring this forum back to its former glory!

I've been eager to go out again myself. I didn't go almost at all during the winter, I have many excursions planned for this year though my life has been insanely busy now so its hard to just go any weekend I choose. But I do guarantee that at some point you'll start seeing pictures from me!

well for me its just a factor of 2 things that make it slow, one is that i have a job that keeps me very busy, but the second is a lack of good locations

Yea it really is difficult to find good locations in BC, if there is you have to almost make a small trip out of it. I am very jealous of the east coast lol

At least there's some life on the BC side of our subforum! The 'berta side's been pretty much vacant for a long while - especially down in Calgary. I'm hoping we can get this community (or at least, this sub community) thriving again.
Let's just hope everybody's about to come out of hibernation.
Maybe we can do a BC/AB meetup sometime this summer? Meet somewhere centrally located in the rockies.

I think part of the problem is that it's been raining basically non-stop since roughly your join date.
I have plans, but they've been on hold until things dry out. Mostly talking from an underground perspective here, but I imagine it affects anyone going outside to some degree.
Check back in August/September, when everyone is coming back to unload their summer trip pics.

I guess i haven't really taken into account that many of you are long time members of this site and undoubtedly substantially older than me. being young and adventurous i crave going out and exploring as much as possible and have the time to do so

Not to mention the insane amount of snow we had this year too. Ive gone exploring once this year back in febuary and my friend and I were trudging though 8-10 inches of snow to get to our location! I don't like exploring in snow since I cant exactly see what I'm stepping on but we were getting desperate to explore again so just did it.

It's the way people do things out here that gets me, Not friendly or inviting at all. I moved from Ontario where UE is alive and well and i tried to inject some life into the forum.... (Years ago now) Got shit all over by elitist douchebags lol, So i dont bother posting. Doesn't mean i'm not out there exploring though, I just dont post about it anymore.

Yes most people are douches when it comes to ue. The way i look at it, once you have been to a location and have done your stuff with it, why not share it withh worthy people to keep it alive. But then again there are certain locations that even i would not share because i know that no one else has explored there before.

well from what i'm seeing we still do have a community that's very much alive and well, but is more incognito about exploring nowadays. i personally have made lots of explorations lately and i think you guys will like what i have to offer (when i get around to posting them)
i've been thinking recently that it might be time for a lower mainland meet n greet, try and breathe some life back into the community.
thoughts?

I think it's probably safe to assume that most of us in the lower mainland slow down in the rainy/snowy season. Most of my exploration is rural, relies on logging roads, or is planned over the course of a long road trip across the province, so when it's snowing or consistently raining for weeks on end I tend to focus more on researching and plotting locations to explore between the months of May and September. I'll be securing my motorcycle license this Sunday too which is very exciting as it will allow me to travel much further, over much rougher terrain (I'll be riding a dual-sport KLX 250), and for much cheaper. I have a long list of planned locations that I'll start picking off as soon as the weather clears up out here.

I just live in the country (nearest city is Kelowna, not much for UE there), am busy with work, and from here any UE type thang means a long trip, which I just don't really do for UE these days; my few bits of time off are spent doing other things. Just how it is.

BC/AB forum is certainly less active than our Ontario counterpart, but it seems to me (a born Ontarian) that its just a bigger thing out there. Certainly there is more to offer in the DB out there. Does anyone know of any more local sites for BC or even specific areas that may be more active than UER? I know Ontario has a few different online UE communities but they seem to have much the same info as UER.
I moved to Vernon last winter for the ski season and didn't do any exploring due to not having a car/license but saw a few small things in that area off the highway that I may one day get to check out. Now I live in Nelson and the DB is completely empty in this area despite there being a few places of interest in the area. I'm staying for this summer and I'm planning on trying to hitch/bring friends to a few local places in the Kootenays, so hopefully you'll be seeing more from me in the coming months.
As for a meetup, I would be super down for something like that! Van seems to have the most to offer though its also stupidly expensive to stay there even for a weekend.
As for douchebag elitists... Does anyone actually care what other people type about you? I feel like UER trolls are almost exclusively self-conscious pimpled teenagers in their parents' basement. Just a hunch though.

I'm in the same boat as Rio, after the Caucasus anything in Canada just doesn't compare.
But it doesn't help that the real estate time bomb has rendered down any industrial ruins in BC for the condo mill, with the exception of hyper remote places like Ocean Falls or Namu. But even there, any remote abandonments are pushing 50 years at the minimum now so places like Bralorne are all but flattened compared to how they were even four or five years ago.
It's really cool to go look at the collapsing ruins of a massive gold mine, right? Big pile of matchsticks, not so inspiring unfortunately. So most of my time is spent exploring the backcountry these days instead. Less mysterious, different kind of beauty.
