Downtown Pensacola and Fort Pickens Batteries (pic heavy)

Was in Pensacola for spring break. Stopped at a few spots in town as well as Ft. Pickens out in the GINS. The first building was an old Escambia County Schools office building currently for sale. While it looked like it'd been empty for a while, the power was still on, it was for sale, and it was tightly locked up, so I didn't risk entry.
The second building was formerly the Pensacola USO Building. It was also used by the city for various court functions until it closed in the 70s. It was also tightly sealed, so I didn't access it.
The batteries are the Cullum and Seiver Batteries at Fort Pickens.

Oh that fort looked like it would have been amazing to get inside! Still nice to see the exterior.

In the full album I liked the cornerstone with the USO and year. Can you imagine how many people met and fell in love there? How many happy memories and babies are because of that very building and the one decision to attend? Many of us wouldn't be here This is at the heart of why I love exploring. Its the closest thing to time travel we have. Quantum physics says we could do more, but this is where we are (and now half the audience thinks I'm a total crack pot).haha....that's ok. Physics is very weird.

Cool pictures. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Hope you had a nice spring break.

Exactly! My absolute favorite part of exploring is imagining the lives of the people who came before. When I am in a hospital or school, I always look for records. Never found anything that cool, but I think the idea that there is an archaeological approach to looking at what many would consider an eyesore is very interesting.

I am also a huge fan of seeing nature take places back!
