I spent about 10 years living up around Tahoe. I do not have an underwater camera but managed to borrow a friends from time to time. Shots 2,3 and 4 are the cast off boards that were not able to used as shingles. This spot near Sunnyside used have an old shingle mill way back in the day.

4. The pic below I found when I was snorkeling one afternoon. So a few days later I went back with my gear and older film camera and water proof housing. I took the pics over to Sierra boat company in Carnelian Bay and asked around. The on;y thing we guessed it could be is 1just and old work barge or 2 a target platform for gunnery practice for WW2 fighters back in the day.

Underwater Urbex - I love it! There are plenty of towns that were flooded back in the day when we built infrastructure like dams, bridges, roads... Great perspective and something very unique! Appreciate the post!

Nothing in Nor Ca worth seeing like what you described. I've checked all the local scuba boards. I'd like to get down to lake Meade and dive the cement plant that is there. Another place I have dived at is the Bonne Terre mine in Missouri. Go check it out on you tube. I didn't take a camera. But if it wasn't flooded it would be an urbex wet dream!

What about berryessa?

Not sure there's much left under Berryessa. Dorothea Lange and Pirkel Jones took some pix before Monticello got flooded. Caption for this page is "Just raw and mutilated earth remained."

I'm pretty sure there's a bridge from Monticello under Berryessa still. It was walkable at one point during high school in the mid 90s so we ditched and went up there

These are pretty sweet! Going underwater looks so cool but it terrifies me

This link might have more info on Monticello. https://openexplor...asunkentownofmonti The Tahoe pics are great! Makes me want to learn to dive. A quick web search yields photos like this:

If there is a scuba shop near you. You should be able to do a discover scuba program. This gets you in the gear to see if it's something you want to do. Off they charge for it. They may deduct it from the class if you get certified. As a instructor I will be the first to say scuba is not for everyone. It depends on the individual. This is the epic abandoned underwater explore. This dive operation only scratches part of what is there. Check out the link. http://www.bonneterremine.com/ Then search it on YouTube. Been there done that and wish I had the money to buy the mine!

Very nice It's rare underwater shots are posted here. Post more deep blue explores if you got em... perhaps water is your native element. Put you up for FM, good luck.
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |

Unfortunately I don't have a UW camera. I've either borrowed from a friend or borrowed one from the dive shop I worked at. Take only memories and leave only bubbles. I'll grab some pics of a Model A frame and tired at Tahoe. My buddy showed it to me. It's just out of recreational diving range for altitude diving. I know enough and have the experience and gear to do it so we we went. Will try and get them posted next week

Awesome UW images, and it's cool that you used film to capture. Have you ever been under Shasta Lake? I know when the lake was really low, the old town was above water, but curious if you'd been.
