The warehouse we all know and love. Does anyone have the history of this place, just curious.

It was used for storage for pieces of ships.

Here's an old photo of that place, taken from the amazing book "Tales of the San Francisco Cacophony Society".
And a more recent one:
Bonus picture: this warehouse is also on the cover of this acid techno EP.

Pretty sure this was just on the news, saw the promo but didn't watch the piece. Something like "and later...big changes for an iconic warehouse." There was a quick shot of the place, too fast to be 100% sure. Maybe it's going away

There are multiple threads on this location, but this is the one I found the quickest. Anyway, several people have told me that demolition started here as of today.

I didn't realize the machine shop had already been converted either. https://www.sfchro...shoes-12899482.php

^^ about the only good thing the tech industry has done so far is to save that building and out it to good use. I had no idea they converted it either.

On regular and most common circumstances I hate to see tags and gratifies on abandoned building... But in this case, it gives it a unique vibe and actually enhances the place. "Less is more" wouldn't apply to this location. The dedication to draw/tag that high on the glass on picture #8 is ridiculous! Great overall shots, I love it! --EDIT: I didn't know the post was posted +1 year ago

Place is known as, “Tag Cathedral”. There is graffiti documented inside that dates back to 1995. I remember when this place stored big containers and the only way in was over the two story barbed wire fence. Then someone made an entrance which was used for the next 10 years lol. Coolest place to set off smoke bombs too lol RIP GRAFFITI PIANO 🎹 and crazy rope swing!

Update: I was lied to & this place is still standing..

I actually drove all the way up to it inside the fence once. Then coming out the gate was closed and I though crap we're locked in. Then someone comes out of one of the RVs and starts yelling..something. Eventually I could understand him and he was saying "don't lock it." So luckily the padlock was just placed so it looked locked.
