Abandoned warehouse in Regina!

I couldn't find any history about this building, but it looked like a government warehouse for the CVA. The CVA is the Central Vehicle Agency (of Saskatchewan.) It is still in operation today, but has clearly changed locations; leaving this beautiful warehouse abandoned. The CVA provides a full range of vehicle rental, leasing and fleet management services to government and other public sector organizations. It is not for the public; however vehicles are auctioned off (in house) to the public when the province is done with them. Typically after 13 years of service or 300 000 kms.

I found this place with a bit of research of aerial imagery, and decided to check it out in person. Despite it being right in town it looked like we were the first people actually inside the building since it closed, with only a bit of vandalism and graffiti on the outside walls and none on the inside, not even foot prints.
Our POE was a garage door window facing a rather busy street, (a bit sketchy for my liking) all the man doors were either locked or welded shut. Once we were in I was immediately fascinated by the large lumber rafters, odd to see in such a large building. The 40 000 square foot foundation was divided into quarters for the most part, mostly full of bays for vehicles.
In the west quarter was a mezzanine full of file cabinets and documents, mostly relating to vehicles. Most of the dates we could find on the documents were from the mid 2000's. Under the mezzanine housed storage/offices. There also was what looked to be a carwash bay near the stairs to the mezzanine.
There was a flooded boiler room on south wall bumping out from the main building with a few ladders and catwalks.
There was a check-in/entrance office was stationed right in the center of the building, and also served as the main entrance into the building.
In the east quarter resided offices, washrooms, meeting rooms, a break room, a shipping room, and an auction room.

There are 3 other abandoned out buildings, all without a POE unfortunately, and very much in view by commuters, I'm not sure if these 3 buildings are associated with the warehouse.

These photos are from my second trip there.

Photos taken Jan 2017.
Enjoy the photos!

This photosphere was taken more or less in the middle of the building.

Sign at the main entrance.

The carwash bay, the stairs to the mezzanine in the background.

3.

The mezzanine, the stairs are to the right, out of view.

4.

One of several dead birds inside, oddly enough we couldn't find place large enough where they could have gotten in.

5.

View from the mezzanine.

6.

Under the mezzanine.

7.

Another entrance in to the building is inside that small room, I think this was a storage room of some sort.

8.

The beautiful boiler room, which is flooded in about 2ft of water, and currently frozen

9.

The rear of the boiler.

10.

Well at least the warned us.

11.

Where the duct work exits the boiler room, note the ladder and catwalks in the rafters.

12.

Looking down from the catwalk. Amazing to see the size of the lumber up close.

The view from the catwalk.

15.

Check-in office/main entrance.

16.

Another view of the check-in office. The main entrance is on the left, you can barely see the sign from photo 1 through the door.

17.

A small office on the left.

18.

Wooden load bearing dividers, with exhaust hoses.

19.

Exhaust ducts that vent to the roof.

20.

The beautiful ceiling.

21.

A picture says a thousand words.

22.

Every location needs a washroom photo.

23.

Inside the small office (as mentioned in photo 17.)

24.

The shipping area.

25.

Inside the shipping area.

26.

Ramp for vehicles.

27.

The auction room.

28.

The east quarter had quite a bit of water damage.

29.

Mens washroom.

30.

Not sure what this room was for, but I think it was waiting room, as the auction room was nearby.

31.

Stairway to the second floor.

32.

Upstairs, looked like cubical offices were put here, also in great shape still.

33.

Just across the hall (to the right of photo 32) more offices with bad water and mold damage, neat to see that just 10ft away is untouched from this damage.

Overall a good location with almost zero vandalism, not even broken windows. No fences, or security, but a bit difficult to enter, but once inside, it's a large location. Perfect for someone who's just visiting the city that smells like it sounds!

Very cool, love the big wooden trusses. Huge spans.

Bit of etiquette: don't post POE details, especially in public threads.

Seems like a really good place nice job.
You may want to remove the POE details in the post though.

Well I've tried modifying this post a second time and it wont let me...I've tried a different browser, and waited more than 24 hrs to modify the post...But it keeps on saying "Sorry, but you can only edit your posts up to 24 hours after posting."

I'd appreciate some advice.

Contact a friendly moderator and they can help you out. I agree the POE details should be removed.

Nice Find BTW! - I've eyed that building up a few times.

Yep, really cool find and kudos on being the first person to get in since it closed. Although one never knows for sure, it does look like no other explorers or vandals have been there before...

We always complain that there is nothing left to explore in the Prairies...well, it looks like you found something!

I totally disagree! I have so many large abandoned locations in sask. that I want to check out, a few of them have never been documented, I just don't have time to actually visit them...I'm taking time this summer to explore and document great locations. Excluding boring homes/farms of course.

@sentry you mean you always complain about the prairies :p Your just mad that you never got to explore the asylums & hospitals in Sask before demolition.

@fomoco we know there are still some larger locations out there - we've done most of them. Unfortunately, the really good large locations like weyburn mental hospital have long since been demolished. We try to see places before they are full of vandalism & graffiti.

I should have worded it differently...because I don't really believe that there is nothing left to explore in the Prairies. I know there are a quite a few fairly big locations left, and I also know that most of them are untouched due to the fact that they get very little exposure. There is only a handful of active urban explorers here, and that is why urbex in the Prairies is so enjoyable.

The distance between some of those locations is considerable, and that is the biggest challenge I am facing right now...and probably why I don't go out as much I as I used to. As you said FoMoCo, time is also a problem...and one simply can't afford to drive 12 hours just to scout an abandoned location with no guarantee that it is accessible.

Don't take this the wrong way, but simply because there are no pictures online doesn't mean it hasn't been documented. It is common practice among us to wait until a building has been torn down to post pictures of it...

Well I drove past this building yesterday, well whats left of it...The warehouse is no more. Even all the out buildings were leveled.

It was located at:

50.454230, -104.592511

Near the intersection of Dewdney ave and Winnipeg st.

Glad I was able to document it!
