Chemical Party

Hey there!
It's been a while since I last posted anything over here, mainly because I hit a major dry spell between the summer and the holidays (which, i know, is like half of the year), but finally managed to get to a few stops during the actual few weeks of holidays towards the butt-end of 2016. Right around Christmas, i popped into an old home i'd had my eye on for a while that ended up being a total non-event. So much so that I didn't even take a single picture. Spent about ten minutes there and decided it was a bust...then set my eyes on a bigger prize.

I had seen a place that i'm sure many of you folks here will recognize once you see the pictures, and have been meaning to get to it on my semi-annual drive by it on New Year's Eve. We're talking about a former chemical/fertilizer plant up here in the Northeast part of the state that sits on a stretch of nothing highway surrounded by tiny towns and big pastures of cows. Thanks to a some additional info from the ever-helpful Dee, i was off to check it out.

This place was massive, and I ended up logging over 3 miles of walking once all was said and done. I could have easily spent all day at this place, but only had a few hours. It was a real treat to explore, as there was no real threat of interruptions and I felt like i could just take my time. Even given that, i still rushed around because of the sheer size of the place. If you haven't been, i highly suggest a trip.

But, here are a few of my favorites:
a sorting bin from another spot in the compound that seemed to handle mechanical parts

a longer shot of the sorting bins. there were several rows, each pretty deep and only some bathed in enough light to see down:

there's a door here somewhere:

I was just thinking of this place last weekend. I went thru it several years back, doesn't look like to much has changed, and was trying to remember where it was. Thought I new general area but how you noted it I may have been thinking the wrong area. Some nice shots! The big cooling tower was pretty cool and had some other buildings out by it as I remember.
