Howdy All, I'm new to urban exploring in this part of the country - I moved to Atlanta this summer. Prior to living here I would poke around old grain silos in the Twin Cities. Anyway, as a way of introducing myself and building bit of clout with you kind people, I thought I would put up pictures of my first explore here - an abandoned condo/hotel building. From the outside, the site has a round tower and large, single story, area attached.
From the outset, I wasn't really sure what this place used to be. The remnants of the signs seemed to suggest a hotel or conference center.
Exploring the non-tower bit seemed to confirm my hotel theory. There was a few large, open spaces that seemed to have been ballrooms -
and dance floors -
...with some...dated decor -
There was even what seemed to be a small theater -
Moving in the direction of the tower portion, the hotel amenities gave way to offices that had more of a "leasing office" feel -
There was plenty of busted glass and damage that seemed more vandalism than decay or material stripping -
This would have been the main entrance at one point -
Off to the side of the main foyer was a bunch of little shops(?) and a book store and/or library -
The was also a random hallway with lots of junk mail -
Moving up into the tower itself, the structure became much more redundant, obviously. It was just a straight tower with apartments encircling a center of elevators and stairs.
The rooms had a bit of an interesting variety. Some were completely empty and others seemed almost lived in -
Lost of the rooms seemed like someone tore into the walls with a serious purpose. At first I thought it was an attempt at removing appliances but the destruction was in totally random parts of the units -
The top floors had a few rooms that seemed extra swanky. At one point, this place might have actually been kind of nice...for a place that seemed to be renting out converted hotel rooms -
And as usual...lost of clever graffiti throughout...
...and one music video(?) shot list?
And after 15 stories of climbing, there was a relatively unimpressive rooftop. I suppose I could have climbed the old billboard but I'm not THAT kind of explorer.
Anyway hope you guys enjoyed it. I have no idea if this is a popular site or not so apologies if this is the 20th time you guys are seeing pictures of this place. Any feedback or suggestions are appreciated! Yoshimbo

Nice job the facade of the building looks really cool.

Great to see a new face around these parts with some pics, welcome to the Southeast . Yeah this place is pretty well known, looks somehow more trashed than when I was there half a year ago. I climbed a little up on the billboards, you didn't miss anything exciting.

Welcome to the neighborhood.
Fuck that place. Nope. 3 times was to much

Dammband, some of our friends, and myself had a run in with the police there. Thanks for sharing your shots.

Thanks all for the welcomes! Yea, I figured the site must be a well known attraction since I spotted it from the highway without even trying... Sorry to hear about the run in with the police Dammband, Jecht. Did you guys just happen to find a random patrol? You guys have any pearls of local wisdom for the new guy?

I too saw this from the highway in may when I was apt hunting for my upcoming move, before they started re-securing it. I've gone back several times in the last few months and its always sealed up. I'm curious how you made it in. I'd love if you'd PM me. I'm going to go check on it again tonightEDIT: Figured it out ;). It is, by reputation, a place you get busted. It was an apartment complex with offices and a club. The reviews were absolutely horrible. Hilarious ad. I've never heard anyone sound less convinced of what they were saying: https://www.youtub...atch?v=__m93i1xiKM The reviews, which are horrible, particularly fed up with the management, aka the people from the previous video: http://www.apartme...s_678597120030340/ "I, along with everyone else in the building got thrown out on Valentines Day! What a great gift! After a lengthy battle with GA Power; the owners lost of course, the Fire Marshall rendered the building as condemned and unfit for human habitation. Then there was the wait to collect your things in order to move elsewhere. What a joke, and to be made homeless through no fault of your own is ridiculous! Live there at your own risk!!!" oh and a news article about why it was closed down due to unpaid power bills: http://www.cbs46.c...sidents-kicked-out

Haha thats awesome...thanks for the backstory! I always love to know at least some history to how sites got they way they are. So it sounds like that explains why some units are more furnished than others. Some folks went to the trouble to come back after their eviction and others didn't.

A+ for your first spot here and not setting off the motion sensor.
