Nice find! The postcard and the pool are gold. Any clues as to what happened?

Thank you, yes, the original owners died in 2004 unfortunately. However, one of their dying wishes was that our town never develop the property so everything is still there. The family still tries to maintain the house but the vandals manage to get in.

I love how green the driveway is, that is a stunning picture. Awesome pictures. I'm not usually one for graffiti, but i think it looks really cool in these pictures because of the colours and how it covers every surface

I feel like the graffiti in this actually makes the location more interesting. I feel bad for the family.. Vandals have basically turned this into a tear down.

Canon 6D with 20mm F2.8. Pretty bad vignetting and chromatic aberrations on that lens to be honest.

Makes me think of roads that were built around a house in China. The area around this place looks like identical houses on a graph paper.

Let me refer these to my native German boyfriend. I'll get back to you.

Let me refer these to my native German boyfriend. I'll get back to you.

1. "Thank you very much for the Christmas card, and for wishing me to get better (something was wrong with his hand)... Happy holidays. Wishing you a merry Christmas, and good luck for next." This one is in mixed English and German. It was hard for him to read.

2. Airmail: "Dear children, we are staying/stayed here for a week in the nice place, Ontario, with the cost of food included! We are in the middle of ---- in the wilderness, we are enjoying the quietness after very hot weeks. Father is fishing all day, but just small fish. The meals are exquisite. Father still gets-"

3. Overexposure made it tricky. "Dear Troudl, congratulations from our hearts (typically a birthday greeting), your grandfather and grandma are wishing you health and luck."

4. "Dear Aunt- You are very busy all the time with the fitness center, there is always a lot to do. But don't overdo it! Here with us, everything is pretty normal, in May I will get a new job. I decided... to take the position as a productions manager. I'm pretty sure it will be hard. Hold your thumbs (wish me luck) for me! Martin is very enthusiastic about the USA, and he wants for us to spend a vacation in a ------ 1989. When is your next trip to Europe? You are welcome anytime. -Ulli, Uta, Dagmar, and Martin."

Martin may be his son. The man's name is Ulli. Uta is probably his wife.

Thank you so much, the story of this house has been very interesting to discover.

So sad that people have to destroy everything. This is why we very seldom have anything nice in this country. Sigh.

I would have loved to see this place right when it was abandoned about 12 years ago. The first time I saw it was about a year and a half ago and even since then it has fallen even further to decay.

These are beautiful! It's always crazy to see stuff left in places. Nice find on the postcards too!
