Almaden Air Force Station

My brothers have told me about going up there back in high school in the 90's. By the time I got into exploring, this place was inaccessible. Yet, I see it every day on my commute. I saw that there was a meetup centered around this place a long while back. Any of you been up there & have pictures to share? I'm dying to see pictures.

It has long been inactive and it seems under county control.

I don't think it's in the standard DB. Though I did find some threads with decent pictures, including a silly ass thread from almost a decade ago about a guy claiming to have his apartment raided after visiting the station..

Wow, this is exactly what I was looking for!! Nice that you got permission to be there, looked like a good time.

I know the radio tower is the only thing standing now, I've seen a lot of recent drone footage.

Gone and the tower is fully sealed unfortunately. I believe it's already open to the public? Not 100% on that

Everything has been completely demolished except for the radar tower and original flag pole. The radar tower is sealed completely shut and has been declared historic and will remain forever...initially in a sealed state. Park opening "summer 2017". The site is an active construction site with multiple contractors moved in and working every day (including weekends). The contractors have private security which roams the site (including nights).

This site is no longer "worth exploring" until the grand opening when you'll be able to enjoy it.

That was a legit post, I wish I had more stories like that. Must've been a gold mine.

Great documentation of that site. Looks like it was a good place to explore.
