I own a 2000 S4, which has strangely been fairly reliable... for a 17 year old car with twin turbos and intercoolers, 5 valves per cylinder with variable valve timing, AWD, and a dizzying amount of electronics.
I am now a little afraid to drive it, because I said it's been fairly reliable...

I watched a SCCA ITA Volvo 124 drill the armco between T5 and T6 at Road Atlanta. It hit so hard they had to cut the armco to get the car out. Beyond the very nose of the car, you really couldn't tell anything had happened. Granted, it had a stout cage in it, but still. IIRC they were running the same car again within a month.

no im a legit maintenance nazi and I dont beat on my cars, obviously there will be bsensors here and there that fuck up and wear and tear items but ive never gone through anything major mechanical on any of the 20+ euros ive owned. biggest issue I had was s kessy one on my touareg
