This show gives me that achey feeling in your gut when you just REALLY REALLY REALLY want to do something.

I agree, I was hunting for a nice first generation land rover discovery to trick out but I ended up just buying a tdi golf.... BUT I put a roof basket, light bar and some good all terrain tires on my BMW x5 and took it offroading. Actually did quite good, better than I expected but a lack of a low gear made it tough with big hills. Though my wife was not too happy when it came back all scratched up and missing the right front inner fender well, woops.

This show is really what kicked off my obsession with overlanding and adventure travel.

I also highly recommend Expeditions 7. Their goal was to outfit a Land Cruiser and drive it on all 7 continents.

I would love to do that to my TDI Wagon, but I don't have enough faith in the transmission to go on much of an adventure with it into the woods. I don't think it liked being submerged when it was brand new....

Brind - I will have to check that out! Thanks for fuelling the obsession

I've been following a bunch of Facebook pages and a few forums with this kind of stuff- so, so cool.

I actually think this build would be awesome with about an extra 12" of ground clearance.

Today's adventure in the Wagon blowing a rad hose in the middle of nowhere was good prep for future adventures? I thought I was fairly prepared for most breakdowns on the road, but today I was missing two key pieces: a knife and duct tape. It's the stuff you don't think of until these situations.

Pain in the ass to limp the wagon 70km with a steady coolant leak back to civilization, but I see it as a good lesson for prep for overlanding / my Yukon road trip. Gerry rigged a repair that meant it took 10 mins for my coolant system to empty itself vs immediately. Stopped every 10 mins to refill.

Today was brought to you by a case of water:
