Well I'm certainly not the first person to gripe about the recent ravaging of cool abandoned structures by demolition crews and luxury apartment developers. But I can't help but to feel jealous when I hear about the old Pabst and Schlitz breweries and others like it that are no longer explorable today. Of course, that's not to say that there's nothing out there. This past weekend, I met up with a crew of 3 others for a pretty decent day of exploring. Our first stop was at this warehouse(?). Pretty heavily graffitied, so I suppose it's no secret. I haven't seen any pics of it posted on this forum however so I figured I would do so, even though it's not the most exciting location.
If anyone knows about the history of this building, I'd love to know more. After a delicious stop at Taqueria Arandas truck, we headed onward to the Donkey Kong drain. I strongly recommend you check this out. Shotgun Mario claims that explorers from different countries still ask him about it! Just know that you will get soaked if you go (hence the lack of photo documentation.) We did get into a kind of scary situation in there however. One of the girls I was with slipped off of a ladder onto the 4th platform off the bottom--ended up with 3 fractures in her spine! Luckily she could still climb down by herself. I shudder to think of what would have gone down if she had fallen from higher——there was certainly no way we could have carried her out! My question to anyone who has been to Donkey Kong: has anyone been able to get into the tunnel at the top? and if so, how? I was thinking about going back with a rope ladder or something, but I don't know if it would work.

We checked this spot out last time we were in MKE. Pretty boring, but it's still something. I couldn't find any history on it, though. Sorry! I've only done the Chocolate Drain in MKE thus far. I need to get back and see more underground!

I've heard MKE has some decent drains but I've never made it underground myself. As far as staying on top of new and untagged sites is concerned, subscribe to google alerts for "Milwaukee Demolition" and other similar keywords. Hit em before the wrecking ball does! Demo permit are usually public info, too, so finding where that gets posted online would be a great resource. Best of luck!

Yeah I'm mostly into the underground shit these days. The Chocolate Drain is awesome, another cool one is the Honey Creek drain system (aka Ungrateful Rodent.) That last one is super extensive! I still haven't seen a lot of it. (If anyone wants to know any of these locations, let me know.)

Be careful about sharing locations with strangers, though. Make sure you trust them first!

Sorry to threadjack. But are their any cool tunnels/drains in Madison? And how does one get into the steam tunnels downtown?

The photo of the hypodermic and the bible brought back memories. I explored an old house a few years back w/ some friends. We found a bible and a crack pipe side by side!

I'm not sure what that building is, but they've converted the nearby building into a brewery. You can get on the roof of that building too. From doing a little research, those buildings were part of a metal fabrication and manufacturing firm that went out of business mid 1980's.
You know when you've found it because you can feel it when they take it away. |

The new brewery right under/near the bridge? They locked down a bunch of the roof access with fencing and barbwire from the bridge but a friend over it just the other day too. The rooftops extend pretty far but there were some homeless people found sleeping too so you gotta watch out where you run into

We were just in the same area a couple days ago. We walked around that area closer to the freeway, explored around a couple warehouses and found a truck full of porn DVD's (Aka the BeatMobile) We ended up going across the river and found a not so abandoned Warehouse where we were able to get on to the roof to chill and enjoy the view. Definitely gonna go back there though to explore some of the bigger 4 story warehouses though, found a couple possible POE's too so we're hyped! Also the area is super well known too by many of the homeless people in the area, we're always on the lookout for them, ended up accidentally finding a couple hobo huts too while exploring. Found a nice setup too, my man was living well lmao But Enjoy some pics, took a nice video of the view but I can't post that here so i'll screenshot it, youd be able to tell where we were relative to you by looking at the video and the powerplant stacks. Hmu if you're ever down to explore more, or you might catch us around the area one day! 1.
