I recently went with a friend out to see an old country doctor who practices in a very small town in the sticks of Tx. He has some interesting ways to treat ailments like Prolotherapy and Chelation. Chelation is a very specific type of IV Therapy used primarily for the removal of heavy metals from the body including the most prominent; Lead, mercury, iron, cadmium, and zinc. Well, as nature would have it i had to find the Ladies Room. Hunting that restroom down led to me to a maze of (back rooms) i found most interesting and i couldn't help but do a little exploring with my cell-phone. I was quite entertained until a nurse found me lurking and asked me what i was doing.  I know this doesn't fall under the category of Abandonments or traditional UER. But, it WAS an explore, and everything i posted is no-longer in use. I couldn't take a pic of the poor ol'timers who were hooked up to Chelation...thats just sad. It looks like Chemotherapy basically. They are trying anything modern medicine doesn't offer just to breathe. They are the ones that got screwed over by industry, plants and mills.

Thanks!  and NO, no insurance is accepted...This therapy now falls into the category of OLD medicine and insurance won't cover it.

My wife's grandfather was a country dentist about this same time period. His ledgers show where he accepted chickens and other farm commodities in payment for fillings and extractions.

Thats sounds a little like this doc. He has a sign on his wall that he will accept quarters pre-1965. He knows what he's doing. hahaha! No, chickens though. He was one of those ol country doctors that delivered babies, made house calls and did surgery like his dad before him. He's slow now, but has a very sharp mind. He definitely believes in old medicine. He isn't shy about telling you that modern Medicine is killing everyone. I have to agree with a lot of his philosophies and would LOVE to get into a few more back rooms of that place. No telling what equipment could be found there.

Ha ha ha. Very good (and interesting) shots! I love old medicine bottles, there's so much character to them.
While it isn't a traditional explore, it just goes to show that you can't keep the curiosity of an explorer down.

^ got me too. too funny. these are amazing shots! i can totally imagine sneaking through the crack in the door to see what was there. i have a thing for old school graphic design and those boxes are awesome. i'm also kind of amazed so much is still 'set up' even though never used, like the trays of instruments.

Well, we would get along just fine. I took Graphic Design in school. Its almost like he started a museum back there... I appreciate your comments as well
AND if you and robo's profiles are correct...its *awfully nice* to see some of the older crowd on these forums. & I DO have a lot of traditional explores if you look back at my pics. I just haven't had the chance to go much this year since a failed back surgery.

This is an old doc.
The iron lung is a reminder to always vaccinate your kids for polio.
Pretty cool.
Note: zinc is not a heavy metal nor considered toxic per se. Metal fume fever will result from breathing too much zinc oxide fumes while welding galvanized steel for example. It's self limiting and last for a day or so. Zinc is an essential mineral needed to live.

Zinc is readily eliminated from the body. Chromium is highly toxic... in a healthy person zinc doesn't pose a serious risk once the person stops taking it. They may need their stomach pumped if they ingested a large amount... many grams.

Oh bh! Must you be a Hard Pill to take! hahahaa! I understand what you are saying. But, these people didn't ingest vitamin amounts. They had daily doses for years of working in places that were saturated with it. Now, their bodies are old and they have toxic amounts in their blood, and or, lungs, liver and kidneys.

Chronic effects of overexposure depresses copper and iron absorption. Chelation therapy is not a main stream "treatment" for zinc reduction at all.

It may be all Quackery. IDK. Im just stating what i heard and learned from going to this dr. with a friend. I thought it was ALL interesting to say the least. I wouldnt do it myself. I just know that when my Dad would ingest Zinc pills for his health he would vomit every time. Maybe some people just can assimilate it. In the instance, however, could it be when its combined with other toxins like lead the body can't eliminate it. I have no clue, thats just what they did at this office.

Hooray! We can actually agree on something!!! I thought that was an Iron Lung also. Turns out, it was an old Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber.
