My anticipated trip to Mortimer, NC was ultimately a bust. The purported ghost town seems to be little more than a hot-spot for rich folk and their summer homes, and poor folk and their days at the nearby creek's beach. The centerpiece to my trip, a purportedly intact mill-of-some-kind, was little more than a stone foundation with ivy-covered stone pillars, filled with potentially snake-infested shrubs. Boo. I imagine this mill is in the Full-Member-Only LDB; it shouldn't be. Fortunately, I spotted a quaint little house on my drive back. I tried to squeeze every pixel out of the damn place. Hopefully, my photography makes up for the lack of material. It probably doesn't. 1.

That sucks to hear. I love the last shot, though overall, that location looks like something you can't really explore much just because it's so degraded that it's not very accessible.

I'm afraid you're right. Floor had fallen through in most rooms and was rotten everywhere it hadn't. I'm sure at least one snake has called that place home. Glad you liked the last picture. Still can't decide whether or not I should have centered the door frame.

Disappointments like that happen all the time! At least you found the house. Sometimes those unexpected finds turn out to be gems.
