Booth Board Mill

What I considered the Holy Grail of urban exploration in this area turned out to be attainable, though not so easily. Here are a few teaser shots while I sort through the 300+ photos from the trip that took half the night.

3.

4.

Most of the upcoming photos aren't so nice, since it was dark, stealth was a factor, and being the first trip there I did not want to be encumbered with a tripod.

We tried the long and dangerous climb up here, looking for a way into the main mill, but there's a territorial turkey vulture at the top that forced us to turn back.

The lower level was cold and damp, enough to see our breath. The higher we went the warmer it got, but it was all very damp with bats flying around. We got in around 11 PM, just as Duran Duran was finishing their show at a music festival practically next door and only got out around 3 AM after drinking a couple beers on the roof. The place is huge with so much to see and it's easy to get separated if straying too far apart. There's still quite a bit of machinery left behind and it seems there's a bit of construction work that's been done in some areas.

The hard part is reaching the mill at all, as there's a lot of risk involved and the potential of being spotted from the road or by security. As for how to get into the building, let's just say a previous explorer left a handy note near the point of entry...

Truly an amazing place worth visiting before the planned redevelopment.

Others have gone in as recently as June 26th, and I've seen graffiti dated to 2015, so it's possible. It just requires determination, and I wouldn't risk it in bad weather or daylight.

That's a really cool location; I'd love to see some long exposures in there! I definitely like how it looks from the shots you've posted.

The next time I go, I'll be sure to bring my tripod for some better shots. We were only planning on figuring out the approach (it's complicated) and finding the POEs. Four hours later and we're having beers on the roof.

I unfortunately only have a point and shoot camera, but the tripod and going when there's a bit of daylight will improve the photography. It's hard to give a sense of how vast it is, since many areas are longer than the beams of our flashlights.

The cardboard variety, actually. Used to produce paper/cardboard for product packaging and was closed in 1980.

Are rock climbing skills still an asset for that place?

Damnnn.

I pass by your area every now and then and am pretty sure there wasn't any obvious way in. Nicely done!

Climbing skills are a necessity to even get close to it, unless you want to try forcing your way in through the well lit fence running along the road (which I wouldn't recommend).

The way in is very much not obvious and we almost gave up. Just a last "fuck it, might as well" is what brought us in.

I just checked this place out today. Super cool! and great pictures!

I was surprised that there was no security. Tried to be all sneaky by scaling the ruins from the other mill to get into the parking lot. After going all assasins creed and finally getting into the parking lot I realized I was an idiot for not simply walking in by the road access. Finding the first POE was pretty simple, nice little trail led to it, unconventional is definitely the right word. Found the second poe 3 hours later thanks to some helpful graffiti.

For the record I would advise everyone not to be an idiot like myself and climb that ladder to the peak of the building, especially during the day. It's only held on my some roofing tar at the top which was melting in the sun today. One wrong torque and it will rip off.

I like this thread because it implies that if you haven't gotten into EB Eddy before that you are lazy, lol

Anyway, cool trip. I look forward to seeing more photos
