Vitamin B Overdose (pic heavy!!)

Went out on a jaunt yesterday with TheGerm and received the most concentrated dose of Bando I've ever had in a day! Here's some of the shots. They're from a mix of locations, I'll try and keep them sorted.

Firstly, I'd like to dedicate this thread to Joe and Elizabeth. You crazy kids!

Phew! Thanks for making it this far! Now, for the Super Mystery Location! A large concrete oval located in a heavily wooded area. No roads lead to it, no sign of it's former purpose. A sidewalk weaves haphazardly around it, a small barren foundation near it, and a large former gas-burning chamber. This one left us stumped! Any idea what the hell this used to be? I'm left scratching my head.

And that's all from the Sunday drive. I was astounded at how much we were able to dig up! So remember Edmontonian/Albertan explorers, we may have the short end of the stick compared to our neighbours to the East/South/pretty much any direction, but there ARE locations around! Be vigilant, keep your eyes peeled, happy hunting & be careful out there!

Amazing that they left a barbecue behind. I wonder if the propane hookup is intact? You could have had lunch.

The oval thing...have you tried to survey the area overhead via Google Earth?

It might be a filled-in swimming pool.

Google Earth (or Earf, as it is known to its friends) was how I stumbled across the spot to begin with. I was originally thinking an outdoor skating rink with a large heating torch for warming up, but the super remote, super overgrown nature of the location makes recreational facilities unlikely I think.

Dat Earf doe! I'm hooked on it.

Anyways, I'mma be AFK for about a week. Maybe I'll come back with treasures to share? At the very least I look forward to seeing whatever you guys dig up in the meantime! Cheers!

There's so much left behind that you would think people would take with them when abandoning a home.

Lawn mower, barbecue, tires complete with rims, drapes, television, VCR, appliances...it's eerie.

Without giving away too much about the area, do you know if it was abandoned in a hurry due to some kind of impending disaster?

A looming refinery is less than a mile away, there was memo's on what to do when there's a leak/explosion and about how long you have to live when it happens yay.

There was a motorhome with recently expired plates as well. Down the hill from it had a junk/hoarding yard that was some real Hills Have Eyes kinda stuff.

That super intact home had the creepiest vibe to it. How can hoarded machinery have sinister overtones? Why should an aged, but immaculately kept RV be unnerving? The contrast between it and the mess in the yard was jarring. The state of the inside of the home spoke of unpleasant circumstances of exit. Opening the door was like cracking the door to a crypt. Felt like we were the first ones to cross that threshold in some time, but the air still resonated with whatever bad vibes led to it being abandoned.

I believe my exact words upon surveying the surrounding area were,"This right here? This is where I would dump the bodies."

I say there was some kind of emergency that prompted the exodus. People don't just abandon televisions without a fairly good reason.

Perhaps the aforementioned looming refinery had something to do with it?

I mean, there's Comet, toilet paper and a plunger still in the bathroom...

Did you guys happen to see any signs of vandalism (i.e. graffetti, tagging) during your visit? Any posted signage that indicated the area was unsafe or anything?

there was just signage that a company owns the land now, one house did have very light graffiti it almost looked like it was drawn before it was abandoned.

I guess I forgot to add the shots of the RV. Internal snaps only, but you'll see what I'm talking about. Immaculate shape considering the age, inside and out. According to satellite it's moved from one end of the property to the other since 9/29/2015.

You know, I just thought of something about that concrete oval thing.

It might be the remains of a former skating rink. The fact that there's a lip around the perimeter of the concrete leads me to think that.

The foundation could be the remains of the rest hut, and the gas burning unit probably provided hear for people to warm up at.

By no means is this conclusive, just a thought.

Made a return trip to the creepshow today with Darendor & company. Found some interesting things hidden off in the bushes.

Like a handful of decaying wooden train cars.

Electricity was still on to one of those traincars, and there was a pile of old 4-barrel carbeurators.

Lots of ancient and forgotten paperwork, a la work orders, receipts and parts catalogs dating to the 1970s.

Few engine/vehicle parts were out and about in other places, such as hubcaps, valve covers and I think I spotted at least one rusted cylinder head underneath a pile of other junk.

Man, I'm exhausted from all that driving and walking.

I e-mailed the local bears in the vicinity and they claimed not to know anything about it.
