Hello 'Berta!
Looks like there's significant interest in doing some explores this summer while getting to know some of the people in Edmonton, Calgary and surrounding area.
- Who: Anyone over 18 who lives in Alberta or close by.
If you're under 18 and would like to explore, feel free to message some of the local members to see about going out privately. One must be cautious entering into any potential trespassing or dangerous situation with a minor.
- What: 1-3 days of locations. Scouting, exploring, or visiting existing spots! There may also be pizza. This leads us to the where.
- Where: You decide! We've got a number of explorers from both Calgary and Edmonton. We'll likely need to base our explores out of one of the two.. Please consider when voting in the poll above, availability of locations, your city, and ability to commute/carpool. Once we nail down a city we'll tackle location specifics. Again, PM me and we can talk.
- When: Some time the week of July 8th or the week of July 18th. As for business day vs. weekend, that too is up for discussion.
- Why: Find and explore new locations, take some pictures, meet locals, meet people from around the province, and generally have a good time. Why else?
- I'll need some assistance in planning this, but I'll take the lead on coordination. If you want to bounce some ideas around, please PM me.

Date suggestions, business day vs. weekend? I'm unemployed due to the oilsands situation, so whenever. Except I'm unavailable June 24.
Opinion on YYC/YEG for abundance of locations: I'm in Red Deer, so both are equally inconvenient. But I voted Edmonton, because.
Your transportation situation: I have a 1972 Pontiac GTO 2011 Crown Victoria that probably won't shit the bed.
What kind of food you're gonna bring (optional): I'll contribute financially to pizza and/or chicken wings.

Date: No difference to me really.
Location: I'd be down for hitting the road. Which brings me to the next point...
Mode of transport: Gas money & charming smiles.

Date: I'm usually free Thursday to Sunday, June 29th to July 13th I'm not in Alberta. I am currently busy with other things
Locations: I'll have to brainstorm on what can accommodate a group of people. The only place I knew that would work I ended up meeting a fat naked man and his cats sooooo.......
Transportaion: I have a 4runner to drive around Alberta.

I'm gone June 23 - July 3. Other that that, just about any day can be made to work, with a few rare exceptions.

I'm in Edmonton, but it seems that most of the good stuff is outside the city.

Thanks for the responses, gentlemen.
We could do a Sunday June 17th, or are weekdays better? Curious to know your thoughts on each. Explorers/party-goers/cops are all out on weekends but you stand out on the streets on a quiet weeknight. ;)

As stated, I'm indifferent due to my being out of work. I'm unavailable on June 24.
The only other thing is that I'm reluctant to drive from Red Deer to Edmonton, then from Edmonton to Calgary, then from Calgary back to Red Deer. That's a bit much on gasoline, not to mention the driving within the cities.

Well, the union called me back to work this morning; I start on the 15th of July.
So that is a no go for me. I was hoping we could make this happen in June.

Germ is available after July 13th, Darendor is available until July 15th.
Option A is July 14th (works for me but I don't know how germ and Darendor feel about that date) or:
Option B: Stick to the 17th, sans Darendor.
For now it's up to Germ and Darendor as everyone else seems flexible. We could do 14th in Edmonton and 15th in Calgary. Thoughts?

Maybe? For serious attendance, but things come up, y'know? There's a benefit to short term planning, cause unlike weddings, people don't schedule their lives around urbex. Lol
For now I'm saying we stick to that Sunday, July 17. If, additionally, anyone wishes to hold another rendezvous before or after, I'm more than open to it (and might even make an appearance).
