I am always on the lookout for ways to make my search for things around this massive state easier and found an interesting article today.

It talks about an interactive map of all of the historical markers and cemeteries around the state. And, yes, there are *thousands* of them.

I've often found that there can be some interesting things next to many old cemeteries and historical markers. A lot of these places are in the middle of nowhere or in ghost towns. In the case of the cemeteries, a lot are located near old/abandoned churches. In fact, I found one of those out-of-commission houses of worship once by accident (and me without a camera) near Athens a few years ago that was pretty interesting.

So, maybe this will help in locating some semi-interesting spots. Maybe it's full-on boring to some of you. Either way, there's the info...do with it what you will.
