Originally scheduled to open in 1918, the 3-story stone school building was commandeered and used as a temporary hospital and morgue during the flu epidemic of 1918, when the local hospital was unable to accommodate the large number of victims. In May 1919 the building became a high school. The school remained in use until 1986 when it was replaced with a new facility.

Nice. Floor level shots and an intact row of urinals
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |

I was surprised to see the urinals intact because most of the toilets had been smashed along with the sinks. Of course almost all the piping was gone.

This place is great. The owner is alright too. He's been trying to restore and make it a place viable for some sort of business' for some time. But he's not making much progress.

Yes. He is a great guy. Just saw him yesterday. ;) Progress will be happening soon.

Awesome location this place looks super cool that theater is really impressive for a high school

Strangely enough. I know someone who to elementary school here. And he's not that old, in his early thirties. I think he was the last class there. Kinda neat.
Learning Time by Dustin Gilbert, on Flickr He had this teacher too. It was cool talking to someone about having memories of an abandoned place you visit.

Amazing location and great photos! I love how big the auditorium is and how the piano is still there. Just awesome.

You are correct it is super cool. They don't make buildings like this anymore. I think it was the first school in its time to have in ground pool.

Wow. It's amazing how much that room changed. You should see it now. One of the teachers lives right across the street. He taught here for about 32 years. It was pretty neat talking to him. He did tell me it later was converted to an elementary school. Thanks for sharing your photo!!!

randomesquephoto - personally I like your shot better than what was there when I was.

I've seen this place shot a ton, but these are some of the best I've seen, and one of the best series from there. Very well done. It's definitely a cool place to visit. There's a few other options in town as well.

Thank you so much for the compliment. I wasn't aware there was more in town, but by the looks of it. I'm not surprised.

Great pictures! Doesn't look like too many people have gotten in there, I'd think a place that has been abandoned since 1986 would be vandalized a lot more than that.

Well done! Dig the tone of these.

I love older schools. They must be such a treat to explore vacant. The older high schools in Toronto have grand auditoriums like the photo you shot. You just don't get the same acoustics and beauty in newer schools.
One day I got a good camera. https://www.flickr...hotos/fleetsurbex/ |

Thank you! The auditorium has green windows. In the morning it makes for some amazing shots!

This school was definitely a treat to explore. I wish it had had more things left behind but you are right about the acoustics.

Thanks! Haha. You think it would be but the owner is really good at keeping the place locked up tight. All I saw was 3 tags in the whole building.
