A while ago, I drove by what appeared to be a closed school that was in the process of being re-purposed or demolished for a condo/townhouse living space. Not certain precisely where I had seen this, I began looking around the area on Google Maps. I found the location I was thinking of on street view, but on Google Maps itself, there is no information identifying the building. I went there today, and the property doesn't look much different from the shots Google has from 2014. There are still signs advertising luxurious loft space, and a sales office. Doing a little bit of digging, I came up with the name Hardington Public School, but I couldn't find any information about the school beyond the year when the school opened (1931, the main entrance says 1930). Here is a picture of the building. All the doors were locked and the sales office is "temporarily closed" according to a sign on its door. If any of you have any information about this school, I would greatly appreciate it.

It's in the territory of the Toronto District School Board, but the sign out front still says "North York School Board"... a board which ceased to exist in 1998 when the City of North York amalgamated with the (then) Metropolitan Toronto into the City of Toronto. This indicates that it has been closed since at least 1998. After some digging, I turned up this: http://www.toronto...oundfile-67546.pdf So it looks as though it's closed for good. That report even gives the number to call if you want to ask for more about the location.

About a year ago it was all alarmed up but I don't know if theres anything inside anymore. That whole area has some cool spots here and there.

I looked in the windows. It appeared that there was still power to the building as lights were on, and I could see clearly into the boiler room from a vent. There was a room full of bags, books, and a copy machine. I saw a row of boarded up houses a little ways east on Lawrence. They're probably going to end up in a development similar to one near by it where a bunch of small houses were torn down for town house units.

Went there around a year ago when they still had the sales office open, and then found a mildly unpleasant way in (and nearly got seen on the roof). Once inside, I found most of the inside doors were boarded shut, and it seemed to be mostly empty on the upper floor.
