Empty Convention Center

Sort of back from a bit of a hiatus. The Lakeside Convention Center isn't abandoned, but may soon be demolished to make way for the Lucas Museum. I've got a friend who wanted to shoot but don't do da bando so we decided to check this place out while it's still around.

Wow, this is great. Was it relatively easy to access?

Thanks guys!

Dundah - yeah, it was. Portions of the building are owned by the Chicago Park District, (don't ask) so they are required to maintain sections as a public space. Security doesn't really like people wandering off the beaten path and they really don't like photography (thanks, 9/11...) but they're severely understaffed on weekends so it was a pretty simple matter of avoiding them. We got asked to leave a couple of times, so we did, and then promptly came back. This wasn't a problem due to shift changes. Whatever works...

Very cool. Next time I'm in Chicago I'll have to give it a look!

Man, convention centers always look so different when empty.

I am guessing #3 was taken from a behind the scenes kind of area. It seems more worn than the rest of the locations.

#3 was actually taken inside a wall pocket. I slipped through the crack on the right and this is where they fold up the movable partitions when they're not in use.
