First image: It's very warm and there's no real focal point. The yellow of the building makes it a little hard to work with. Before editing. After editing -

Basic:
Auto temp/tint (shift + double click slider)
Exposure +0.36
Contrast +10
Highlights -95
Shadows +33
Blacks -17
Clarity +14
Vibrance +76
Saturation -38

In this tab I upped the exposure for more detail, added contrast. Highlights down to free up detail plus they were blown out.
Shadows up to free up detail but blacks down to add contrast and add a range. Clarity up.
Vibrance up and saturation down gives a nice look which is what I was messing with.

HSL:
Hue yellow -50

The building on the left was lit a terrible yellow. Changed the hue to try make it look nicer.

Split Toning:
Highlights - orange (sat. 46)
Shadows - Teal (sat. 15)
Balance +21

Adds some interest, just a stylistic thing.

Detail:
Masking 51
Amount 48
Detail 33

Adds some detail. Hold alt when you change the masking and slide it until all you see is the edges of shit you want to be sharp.

Effects:
Highlight priority -17
Highlights 100
Feather 88
Dehaze -10

Basically just adding a vignette and some haze (haze is a good thing for IG etc as it pulls your feed together).

Second image: on some real shit this is a top photo, it already looks great and really as long as you don't do a lot to it it'll look good - a VSCO preset might look good. Before editing. After editing -

Basic:
temp/tint auto
contrast +31
highlights -100
whites +48
blacks -17
clarity +12
vibrance +48
saturation -43

This is an interesting photo because it looks very good unedited, and you could make a very good case that my edit is worse than the original.

Detail:
amount 64
masking 73
detail 43

Effects:
Amount -17
Feather 73

Last one I just made b&w because there was no colour info. Exposure up to show the words, highlights up to blow out the door, shadow up for text clarity. Clarity up for same reason.
It's grainy as fuck. It's kind of cool still, and I didn't even realize there was writing on the door until I upped the exposure heaps to try make out some more detail so it looks cool. Before editing. After editing -

The sodium vapor lights are skewering the WB. Without enough white light sources it becomes impossible to bring out the blue based colors correctly. Flash filling is an option.

The Heliopan Digital Filter lenses helps when shooting in sodium vapor lighting.
Always shoot RAW and get the exposure spot on to maximize post processing options.
However it's impossible to get a color image in y/rd lighting; the curse of sodium vapor HIDs.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.
