Have lived in NYC all my life and have been interested in urbex for the past 2 or 3, but never got around to it since none of my friends ever want to tag along.
with that said, id like to actually get into it, open to any sort of spot whether it be a tunnel, train station, rooftop, etc. anyone willing to let me know of some lower risk/easier spots for a starter or (doubtful considering its my first time posting) show me around one?

Introduce yourself on the Rookie forum and elsewhere and start getting to know people on the forum first. Since this is your very first post most likely you won't get (m)any takers due to the illegal nature of exploring.
Share some pictures that you have taken if you have any at all, etc.

Not very often and at totally random intervals.
Quick run down on the place...
The tunnel has 4 tubes. Only two have tracks in them. Of the trackless tunnels, one is sealed with "ghetto gates" on each end. That tube contains a petroleum pipeline. The other trackless tube can be driven through and used by NYPD and the RR to access the tunnel.
The two center tubes are the ones with tracks in them, the one on the West side is where the trains run through. The other is a storage track.
It's fairly safe to walk through the tunnel except near the North end where the tunnel curves. Other than that, you get plenty of warning of an oncoming train or patrol car. There are cut outs between the tubes where you can cross from one tube to another should you spot a train or vehicle approaching.

Yeah not a desirable place to be if you don't have to. Better than laying prone,face planted in the ballast rock with your arms covering your head against the tunnel wall
Been there, done that... and it sucks.
Remember RR cars sometimes can have hoses, chains, whatever hanging loose just banging into things off to the side and underneath. They can kick debris up with great force as well. If you're in the path... you be in the hurt locker.
Either way exercise great caution when exploring on any of RR infrastructures, even inactive ones. Falls on tracks break bones and fracture skulls. People I know and myself have been seriously hurt on tracks. It's very easy to do

Do you have any pics of the inside? Also I'm looking at this place on google maps and I'm assuming the entrance is on Junius St where the gates at?
