pretty much all in the title, how do I upload my photos from my iMac to uer?

Your best bet is uploading them to a photo-hosting site like Flickr and linking them from there. It greatly improves the image quality this way, opposed to uploading them directly to UER.

I'm needing a new laptop in the worst possible way. I'm considering a Mac and very much interested in the answer to this question before I drop 2 grand. I know that from my iPad I can't upload because of the flash player.

I just confirmed that you can upload photos from your iPad to Flickr.

Flickr no problem, it's UER that I can't. I'm not sure if that's the case with a Mac however. I'm not a big fan of people posting links to extraneous accounts. I just feel like it's a form of self promotion to drive traffic to their pics. Maybe it's not and I myself have posted links to a specific album but it's mostly because I don't want to flood my post here with a ton of photos.

Posting a link to your Flickr might be a bit of self promotion but hosting the photo and imbedding it here isn't. That said.... This screen capture/pic uploaded via iPad
Here I reformatted by changing pic= to inp=
