Coal-fired power plants across the southeast are being shuttered and demo'd. Here's one of them.
Demo began a few years ago.
The first time I went, I got nowhere.
The second time I went, I got nowhere.
The third time I went, I almost got caught by security - but I did get in.
The fourth time I went, we all got chased off by security.
The fifth time I went, Eschaton and I got to see the upper floors.
There probably won't be a sixth time.
Yeah, it's about to be demolished, but hey, it's covered in graffiti anyway.
Say goodbye.
Thanks for looking!

There is an oil fired power plant out here in west Texas that's beginning the process of demolition (asbestos removal is being done now). Although it lacks the thrill of infiltration, getting a permitted explore may not be that difficult. I contacted the demo company, asked for the project manager and he was a really cool guy. He said that because they are doing the asbestos he didn't want "civilians" around but asked me to keep in touch and he would get me in. Sometimes asking is the path of least resistance!

Crap. I regret not having seen this place, but then again, I don't regret not taking you up on the invitation to be part of the trip where you all got turned away... Cool shots. Awesome spot. Too bad it won't be around much longer.

I'm about 100% sure permission wouldn't have been granted here, but I hope it works out for you at the Texas plant!
Thank you! It was an amazing explore, I wish you could have been there (at least for the successful parts).

Yes. I really wish they'd just let them sit and molder for a few years.

Mmmmm, lucky man. Power plants are way cool I got into the art deco flagship Chester Power Station when it was being covered to a office complex in 2004. They saved a lot of it though including all of the main control room.
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |

I remember seeing this in another place! Once again, great photos, looks like a killer explore.
Everyday is an exploration! Go out and do something new today :D |

So very good!

The worst part about this for me is no coal plants means no more coal trains. Very nice shots, thanks for sharing!
