I definitely want to go back to explore a bit more. A fairly small place, especially since one wing has been burned. Link to several more photos: https://flic.kr/s/aHskwn3GTu

Nice shots. My father worked here in 1990/1991 shortly before its closure in 1992. It's a shame the county and then the town let it fall into such disrepair in the early 2000s. It had power on until about 2000. Used to be full of some cool stuff as it was storage for St Lukes Hospital of Middleborough, Taunton State Hospital, and Tewksbury State Hospital. As late as 2011 I found an ECT machine in the basement under the annex wing. I'm friends with some of the town selectmen and they are currently hoping to secure $3M for abatement and demolition, which is a far cry from the 1990s when they were supposed to rehab all 8 buildings on campus to stimulate the south side of town that had been hit hard with the hospital closure and the Ocean Spray Cranberry Co relocation.

Seems to be exactly what happens with every place. It either stays owned by the state/town and gets ruined, or privately purchased with plans to do something and that gets halted... then gets ruined still.

Sad story for this place. It was sold to a developer after county government dissolved in the 1990s and the intentions were awesome then all of a sudden the developer disappeared and it took the town YEARS of battles with the court to get the property back. During that time, the hospital was subject to multiple arsons, theft, vandalism, and scrapping due to a Live Journal post that listed exact details on this place in 2004ish. After that it was all down hill. The police take it very seriously there as it is a huge danger to public safety

The arson and vandalism is obvious. I'm sad it is in such disrepair as it was clearly a beautiful building. The amount of graffiti made me cringe.

Cool shots. This place gets worse and worse every time I see/visit it.
