Hey everyone, Samurai still needs our help. Lets all dig deep and help this guy out, maybe take the pressure off a little bit. One day it may be you that needs help.

If he wasn't out Porsche-shopping last week, I might be inclined to part with a nickel or two.

I was just looking at it because I had never driven a Porsche before.
there was no way in hell I was buying an 83 Porsche... It was a personal thing, just to say, yep, I've driven a Porsche and cross it off the list. Shit, I can't even get rid of my goddamn Subaru. You'd think unloading a Subaru Outback would be easy. I actually started selling off my jersey collection which breaks my heart, but it has to be done. so, no, I was not out Porsche shopping in earnest... But the guy with the car doesn't know that, so keep it on the low. As it turns out, most of the paperwork is done, but my insurance company is dragging their feet sending the EOB's (explanation of benefits) that will allow me to clean out what's left of my 401k. I spoke with them today and they were never sent. Gee thanks. I explained how important this was and the woman on the other side of the phone was very helpful. So... who knows. I applied for social security disability which was my last alternative. They are not letting me go back to work... ever. This, as I have said before, is a blow because like you guys, I have always worked. I don't want to be the creepy guy down the street who only goes outside to get the mail, but that's what's happening. I probably should've explained the Porsche thing a little more deeply because, yeah that does look shitheel-y. So, if need be, toss flaming pitchforks and all manner of violence my way.

oh and it wasn't a 'real' Porsche either... it was a 944 with a gazillion miles on it. ...but it was red...

No prob, broski. I hope your health improves greatly and your life will be as full and pleasant as you need it to be. It's not every day a man goes from getting crowd-funded for medical expenses to Porsche shopping in a month so please pardon me for sticking my cock in the mashed potatoes. I meant to ill will. An arched eyebrow was executed so I had to say something in the spirit of WTF. Love ya, mang.

I certainly understand the "bucket list" test drive. I would love to drive a Corvette and Porches just once. For time to time I have people in my motorcycle class who tell me that getting their license is on their list. I do my best to help them check it off. Life is too short not to have great adventures no matter how small they might be. Hope you enjoyed the drive! Abby

it handled great, even with over 170k on the odometer... but my Cruze would outrun it. Not a ton of oomph left in the engine, unfortunately.

That's a shame, broski. I rented a '16 Cruze a few months ago when my Tahoe needed some bodywork and it fucking sucked balls further than the desert horizon. Every time I hit the gas, it'd fucking hesitate for a few seconds and my break-away into Philly traffic was severely compromised! The shit injectors fucking blow. Piece of shit with cheap-ass plastics in the interior. Your Outback is 10 times the car.

I thoroughly enjoy my Cruze. Plenty of power (even at 95k), still handles very well. I do have a bitch with the brakes as I feel they are too small for the weight of the car. The interior is still in good shape and the car still doesn't rattle or squeak. I look at it this way, you had a rental that had had the shit pounded out of it. If you are interested, you can have my Outback for $850.

went for a sleep study a week ago. Still waiting for the data from that. Also had my Social Security Disability physical Wednesday before last. Hopefully that is fast-tracked as well. Had to clean out the last of my 401k just to keep up with the bills for another three months. So what's new? I got my medication back, the stuff that actually makes me feel halfway normal. It's called Entresto and the shit actually works. Just trying to get the paperwork done... there's so much paperwork. But I am still here, feel like poo, though. Hoping that drug will work again.

update-o-rooney... blood sugar is way out of hand and neither my general or specialist have any idea why. Also, I have this nastiness on my feet and left leg that my general has no idea what it is. Bloodwork came back negative on a bunch of usual suspects, isn't fungal, so they did a biopsy Tuesday (which I didn't enjoy). So waiting to know what THAT is... feels like I am going down hill fast here... they have me logging my weight and sugar twice a day... (facepalm)

Damn. Is it a rash on your feet? Has pancreatitis been ruled out? Get aggressive with this. Could be a reaction to the meds... Make sure you don't get a secondary infection on your feet. Keep em elevated as much as possible and clean. See the doctor ASAP if any signs of infection develop, half a day can make the difference. Inspect them 3 or 4 times a day... Make sure you're getting enough vitamin C, lack of C will cause all kinds of vascular problems.
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |
