I posted this place up on the DB a while ago, and I'll be damned if 3 different people didnt visit it before I got to explore! Lesson learned. Explore 1st post on DB second! Here's my take on an old refinery from East Texas. More on Flickr: https://www.flickr.../72157663964766736

| Okay, somehow I missed this thread along the way, but I am now re-inspired to make a daytime trip. So much, in fact, I just might have to make my sequel trip in the next week or so. Great photos! I've gotta see this place in the daytime!

The B and W's are really bad ass, BTW. Possibly my favorites (and the bottles).

I couldn't imagine going here at night. The neighbor across the street let me park my car in her driveway and warned me about all the gangs and drugs. In addition to the mormal strange sounds you hear in abandonments, you have birds, mice and god knows what else rustling in the tall grass all adding to your paranoia. I was actually a bit disappointed with the B & W's. I thought the tall grass detracted from the industrial stuff in the photo. Unfortunately the color shots were equally confusing so I went with my gut.

I like the composition. Looks like an interesting place to explore.

Wow very cool spot! I love huge industrial locations like this. I would love to see some exterior shots from summertime when everything is in bloom and growing. Great shots man, really digging all the exteriors in particular.

I don't think your entry in the DB had much to do with this one. I've seen a few peoples maps with this listed before. Even I have had it on the backburner. It's one hell of a spot. Interesting take with the B&W. I do love industrial stuff.

Good stuff! I hope someone's had a walk and climb around there wearing a GoPro

What was it like running into Brad Pitt while exploring haha. Great set man!

The climbing probably isn't a good idea at this place. It's been abandoned for quite some time and I'd be a bit worried about the integrity of those ladders/stairs. Also the cops are called to this place all the time so staying low is advisable.

Explored this on 1/31/16. Myself and DeeAshley were taking a break laying on the road in the shade and a police car rolls up on us. This 20 something female cop wearing tights no less starts asking why we are there, reminding us that it's trespassing and taking down our names. Then she proceeds to point out her favorite spots and patiently waits for us to take several shots of "her spots". I think her name was Mandy. It was about 4pm on a Sunday.

Thank You. You know there are several of us that would like to see a revival in DFW area as far as the meet up (hint, hint). DeeAshely alone could repopultate the map with new locations.

To be fair, people knew about this place for a long time. There's a reason it wasn't in the DB, like most things.

We used to have "public" meet ups which were sometimes fun (or funny) but more often turned sketchy. Then we had the DEA (Dallas Explorers Association) meet up which were pretty secure and almost always held at Las Ranitas on Columbia, close to downtown Dallas. Some guy took the public meet up over that never really explored and it kinda fell apart. Its still on the calendar I think. You should just start a new one. It all depends on what you hope to accomplish, if its just a public get together party over drinks and telling stories great. If its actual going to be explore some place off limits then Id make it invite only, just sayin. I don't live in DFW anymore some someone that does, (like you) needs to step up and coordinate one. Its easy.
