I love the dry mines out here, but it's pretty cool to see different underground environments, particularly the wetter mines of the east coast. Thanks for sharing some of your pictures. Also, I see quite a few albums so I'm guessing you've added me to your family group, but if not you should so I can see the rest!

I envy you for the dry mines there... we've come across several in Northern and Central Ontario that looked promising, but are partially flooded and we didn't have the right gear for them. Would kill for a non-wet mine for a change.

If you're not balls deep in ochre, you're not mine exploring!

Get a kayak! :p I've lived in the midwest pretty much all of my life and we did a partially flooded mine out there that we kayaked through, it was AWESOME! I'm actually going to post a thread about it when I get it written up. The only real downside to the dry mines is all the dust. Even with a dust mask you'll be blowing dirt out of your nose for a week afterwards. Plus when you're rappelling down shafts sometimes the airflow will blow all that dust up in your face.

Almost all of NJ are flooded. Some in New York are, depending on the area. The PA coal mines are so damp that I can put my finger through the wooden supports. Some areas of PAs are flooded also. It was nice to do some dry ones out in Utah. Gina I already have you added haha.
