These Microwave relay stations look awesome, Seem awesome, And are awesome. Some were made on top of bunkers to withstand nuclear fallout in the cold war. About every 50 miles there used to be one until they started to disappear. Personally I haven't seen one but I wanted to let you guys know, because these seem like an insane Urbex trip. Apparently some still work...

Ummm... find one. It's not that hard to do, but it takes more then a few mouse clicks.
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. | |
Im working on it as we speak. Just got into these today which is why i'm excited that these even are a thing.

We have one of these towers a few miles from my town. Found this site with sites by state. http://long-lines.net/places-routes/

Probably better not to point out exact locations of these on public viewable threads, especially if you get into one. PMs are better. They are fairly easy to find anyway... in the regions that they were active. Most are still in use as cell towers, radio stations, private microwave relays, etc.

My bad on that one. I know the one where I live is used as a cell tower and I believe it is also used to broadcast our local AM radio station.

Personally I'd argue that's really not an issue with these. There are hundreds of them around the US. These locations are very easy to find online, not very prone to vandalism or theft (the weird concrete one pictured above clearly being an exception) and, while they're definitely worth checking out if you've never been, they're not mind-blowing locations or anything. And they're reasonably safe...ish... So I see no reason to worry about posting their locations.

Long line towers are quite sturdy, built to keep the frame up in 15 psi overpressure (15 mile distant nukes). Be careful, though. If someone rents the tower, they may have installed cameras. Motion-detecting gear that phones home is cheaper than ever. Look for the "paddle" cell phone antennaes, or anything but a safety light and the old microwave horns. That indicates possible current interest in trespassers who might run off with equipment.
