Abandoned Hospital in Sudbury [Pic Heavy]

I've been to St. Joseph's Hospital numerous times, but I haven't gotten a good photo shoot there until recently. The hospital first opened on October 15, 1950 and is ridden with asbestos. I got some good shots from the roof, stairwells, broken windows, and some creepy hallways in the basement. There isn't really any good postings of the hospital on here yet, so enjoy. I have most of my full resolution pics of this particular visit here: https://imgur.com/a/xj2PZ
As well, here is my flickr album with all my previous visits and more: https://flic.kr/s/aHskftjDxc

Of the whole build, the stairwell was great for photos. There was loads of light from nearby windows and the amount of wear from weather coming in though the broken windows made it looks beastly.

The view from the top of the building was absolutely amazing, here's s pic of the Sudbury Superstack.

Cool view of the Sudbury watertower through a broken window.

The door was totally destroyed. It was twisted and warped. No idea how that happened.

As I said before, the stairwells were amazing.

Obviously me and my pals weren't the first ones here. There was lots of evidence of people doing drugs in, vandalizing, and burning small areas of the building. This small chair setup was cool.

A look into the basement from the stairs.

The hallways in the basement were insanely dark. This photo was taken at 0.8 exposure, 3200 ISO, without flash. We used a flashlight to get it to brighten up.

The window we climbed it to get inside.

These are just a preview, I took way more photos then this and I suggest you check it out in the link I posted above. A lot of the floors of the building have been cleared out. The basement and upper floors had the most walls and still intact build innards. There has been active construction onsite during the day, I went late on a Sunday to avoid people, also there are security guards slightly offsite you should lookout for.
I've heard that they plan on turning it into a apartment complex. I wouldn't want to live in a apartment that is a refurbished 65 year old hospital.

Also this is my first thread, I plan on making quite a bit more of abandoned buildings in the Sudbury area.
Thanks for having a look,

The first time I went up to this spot I was under the impression that it was being repurposed! IT was clear, power on, no peeling paint. In 4 years this place has gone downhill fast

Aha, yeah. This was my third and final visit to the place. I've gone over the course of a year and a half and over that time alone quite a bit has changed. I think it's due to the amount of broken windows. The paint is probably not made for large changes in temperature or being damp for long periods.

I remember going through this place at night right after it closed its doors. Was pretty sure there was a maintenance guy in there with us... lol!

Never was able to get on the helipad and it was too dark for pics, but a great explore anyways. Amazing how quickly the paint starts to peel.

Good job!

I would pass... it's stripped bare. Entry is easy but it's just bare hallways. I'd opt for a much better hospital (which there are a few of in Ontario). Aside from the hospital, there's not much else of interest in Sudbury. A few houses, a school or two but overall quite boring.

Hook up with me on OAP, we'll arrange something in the spring.... plenty of opportunities for you that aren't the town bicycle.
