Hi all! Dani here. This is my first thread here documenting my first little adventure in UE from this summer. Last August my friend and partner in crime Colleen and I ventured out onto the Prince of Wales Bridge in Ottawa to cross the Ottawa River and reach Gatineau, QC on the other side. Now, for some history. According to Wikipedia, it was one of the first bridges in Ottawa and built by the Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa and Occidental Railway in 1880. However, it was abandoned as the railway stopped being used. Nowadays, you can often find drunken twenty-somethings swinging off a rope in to the river in the middle of the night. Without further ado, enjoy my mediocre pictures! Dani
The view of the tracks from the tunnel beneath the parkway.
The infamous rope.
Cool graffiti on a nearby footbridge.
The abandoned train tracks.

Love your last photo. Great set!
It's not where it goes, it's where it can lead you to. |

Might have to check that rope out next time I'm in town.

I visited Ottawa in the summer with the full-intention of checking out this bridge. Ended up getting distracted by the plethora of other things to do in the city and completely forgot about it until I was 3 hours into the drive back home. How bad of condition is the bridge in? Is it getting to a point of becoming actually potentially dangerous? Pictures will have to fill the void until I manage to make it back there. Thanks for sharing!

From what I saw, it seemed totally fine. It's an old bridge but it's also a fairly popular spot. We even saw some families with young kids checking it out. I wouldn't be worried.

this bridge was built by dominion bridge and maintained for railway traffic until 2002, this bridge is structurally sound, so it is very very safe
